i think when it comes down to it, it depends what your definition of fast is... when i was 17-18 yeah, a 12 sec car felt fast to me... now it feels like a pig

12 is just 'quick' now... i need something faster :ugeek:

QFT

Drive a car that can do a standing mile at 170-175plus your driving a very fast car. God I love Texas, hell Maxton would work for me as well. :D

That's why I laugh when people get all fired up about whose car is faster... it has nothing to do with the person, just the amount of money you have in it. That's why I think autox and road racing have a bit more balls to it, because if you get a good time, it's because you drove the hell out of it, not because you have a faster car. That's something to brag about.

This is the shit that people say when they dont actually know what drag racing is or havent done it at a somewhat competitive level at a track.

It has nothing to do with reaction times, launch technique, shift points, building the right suspension setup  , you're right, just build a fast car and go! These are the the reasons that noobs get pwned when they go to the track, because they are used to ricing it up on the street going a 30 or 60mph roll, beating a couple mustangs, and they think they are the shit. And forget about bracket racing if you think "drag racing is about the car". So go ahead and say that all the time to your autocross or ricer friends, I'm sure they eat that up... probably cuz they got butthurt from getting destroyed at a drag strip. I encourage anyone who thinks that any idiot can drag race to take their car if its fast enough and go run the Pro class out at Quaker and see how far you get, I bet it wouldnt be past the first round, second round if ur lucky and the guy next to you red lights.

That being said, I'm cool with road racing, I personally dont do it but Im not going to knock someone for road racing. I just think that autocross is lame.

Nah, you know whats pathetic? skidding around in some parking lot between a fuckload of cones never getting above like 40mph. Autocross is gay.. If your gonna do that why dont you man up and at least do road racing!

haha....
Actually, I'm an instructor for national auto sport association....I do plenty of road racing....

yea drag racing you need all that stuff, but at the same time you need that at auto cross PLUS THE ABILITY TO ACTUALLY DRIVE YOUR CAR. going in a straight line isnt exactly the hardest thing to do.

id say autocross would win the skills battle

Drag racing is easy when you're only driving a 15sec car. But when you get in to cars that run faster then 10's, it's a lot different. Same thing with NASCAR [I'm not a fan of it]. While driving around an oval might seem easy and boring, wait until you actually try it. Driving a 700hp car with another 700hp literally inches from your front and rear bumper and on both sides of you is not easy. One slip up, and you have an epic crash.

ive driven a 10sec car down a 1/4mile strip, ye its hard and a good rush ( id pick drag racing any day) but ive also done autocross in a stock impreza and it takes more driving skill. ive also done it in a 300hp wrx and that was even more nuts lol..i love both though

While I understand what you mean, I'm mainly referring to the fact that I can go out right now, buy a built drag car with a transbrake and slicks, and then come on here and start bragging about my fast car and bashing other people. Obviously reaction time is something that everyone has to get dialed down.

i think thats a little closer to what u wanted to say the first time.

point being, take a high hp car with a th400 and a transbrake. Sure it may take u a while u figure out where the suspension needs to be and what rpm to launch the car at (or u can buy one thats already done) and other than knowing when to let go of the shiney red button theres not really much skill involved...

u mention the pro class... all of them have transbrakes (some of them even run delay boxes) and can run within 1-2 hundreths of their dial every pass down the track... all without ever lifting their foot off the pedal.

now put someone in a 5/6spd without any twostep or launch control and run the 1/4mile... then yeah i'd say that actually takes a bit of driving... especially if ur running a 10sec car

This comes back to my hate for autos. Fags generally drive them, or old men. I might agree with drag racing being "harder" in some instances using a proper manual. Pulling back twice is... ummm... yeah.. Sure its more consistent yadi yada, who likes everything easy?

Example of a Man behind a wheel.

Yeah it was backed up...

anyway remember when i was talking about the vue and the kia rice hunting? well here is the kia vs that white maxima with the fake ram air and the valve cover breather glued to the hood, the wal-mart fender vents "nos" stickers and all. ANOTHER KILL FOR THE BEAST!!! after the race he said "my nos switches were not even on" so i asked him how big of a shot he had to which he said "25psi" and then i asked 25psi of nos? and he said "yeah but my switches were not on"

nope. so we might see you this friday. but we're only going if jason goes. cause he is the only one with a helmet. and andy needs one no matter what he runs because his car is convertable.

if anyone goes just to watch and you see me. record all my runs please. i can't find anyone to record for me.

Just go run. You aren't going to need one I'm sure....and honestly I swear they don't even give a shit esp if you are barely past the et limit.

I've made tons of passes under 13.99 without a helmet and they didn't do anything. The lt1 proabably won't break 14.00 anyways.

I very much doubt you are gonna need a helmet anyways, just go run em. If you are assuming that you are going to be in the 13's you are in for a world of disappointment.

I'm not retracting my statement

You both all have modest streetcars, it's going to take a real nitpicker to get you guys removed. The last time I went through they hardly had a sorry excuse for tech even.....place has gone downhill but at least its still open.

well you should cause even if andys i/e ls1 runs a 30 sec. 1/4 he will still need a helmet. .....no wait not even. they will not even let him run once....cause his car is a C-O-N-V-E-R-T-A-B-L-E. whitch means he needs a helmet NO MATTER WHAT. ok?

not in our current cars but yes. i have at least. i'm prety sure he has also. i ran a 16.3 in my v6 and they still came up and made sure my t-tops where locked, windows were up, seatbelt on and tire tread.
