Dave & Eds - Potential sport compact/ youth event?

Hey guys, I just want to run this by you all, as we (ACV) will be able to have some say in the development of bringing a ‘new crowd’ to the Dave & Eds event. (auto events.com)

If you haven’t’ been to this ‘mega’ swap meet / auto event in years past, then you might not know the magnitude of its size.

In short, we are looking at bringing some vendors in, and a couple clean local custom cars to show off in the main grandstand area. Basically, think of it has the starting point of a larger in the event in the future, right now we are getting in on the ground floor with an event that draws 40,000 attendees. So, for now we are going to test the waters with a soft trial event. But, we want to support having a nice yearly show for our generation/style of vehicles in the future.

---

My questions are, what do you guys think?

- Would you come, would you want to have a car show, or just hang out with your car in a cool environment?
- What you want in to the swap meet for free that day in addition to heaving your car parked in the ‘main vendor/show area‘?
- Would you want to be able to sell used parts, especially if we gathered enough like minded car people?
- Dave & Eds is all weekend, but should the day we bring cars in be just on Saturday, or all 3 days?

---

Just want to kick this around, we already planning on couple local companies that can provide good work on your cars - to give people something to check out. I will be there with my tour trailer and a couple cars myself. I know we already have a few people interested in being a featured vehicle…so there will be room for a couple featured cars, and then we will be able to have ea main parking area for everyone.

My initial thoughts are, get some cool vendors and displays - and just throw a real causal ‘meet’. It wont really be a ‘car show’, but I will be easier for rollin and rollout, and you might not have to pay for admission to the swap meet and all the fun that comes with that :)

If you have any questions, feel free to email me or hit me up on AIM

Ok, here are a few more details, sorry for making this last minute! But, its a real-laid back test event, this will build on what I do next year.

Dave & Ed's is all three days of this weekend; Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. If you have a custom car or a simple clean daily ride, you can bring it out, as long as its something nice to show! This dosnt mean it needs to be a 'show car', just dont bring a beat up,...beater :D

TO GET IN: If you arrive in a car you want to be on display while you hangout/walk the fairgrounds, and park in the 'display' area, you will get in for free that day - any passengers will need to be the low admission fee. Use the main gate at the fairgrounds, to get in, just say you are parking in the Aaron Vaccar's Display Area - ACVmailorder.com might have a little display too, but I will give the gate instructions on my name as the code.

THE TIME: The event is open all day each day, and usually clears out around 5pm though. I originally wanted to organize everyone to come on Saturday, as I think its the busiest, but any day is fine! I will be there each day from the morning, until around 5pm. Mabey you guys might want to use this thread to post when your going, so people know when to all show up!

THE LAYOUT: If you dont know about the swap meet/car corral, that is its own world, I cant explain that lol. The area we are in, is in front of the grandstands (the paved area). My tour/ACVmailorder.com will have a big tent, next to my trailer in front. We will also be with 2 other big tractor trailers, National Tire and Battery, and some other misc stuff in that specific area. I will probably go early and chalk some parking spaces so you guys know where to go!

Doesn't mean you can't show. Your WRX is the best in the area IMHO, it all looks factory and functional. I'm always down for a clean OEM looking car.

Thanks man, I never really look at it that way since its just what takes me to school, and work. I do appreciate that tho, but I can take no credit. Bob the previous owner set it up the way it is, which is exactly what I want. So no reason to change it IMO. Only thing I've done to it is maintenance/service items that just keep it running.

As much as I want that I'm just as much turned off by it. I've been living my life behind my 240 since I was 17. Literally saving ~80% of what I make to afford the modifications I do to it, generally only to be let down. I'm tired of being a cheap ass, I like going out with my friends, and having a good time not giving a fuck if I spend $5 dollars or $105 dollars and worrying about saving money for my car. The car will be rebuilt at a slower pace as I find good deals. It is in the process, but I've erased any dead line to getting it done. I'm 21 I'll graduate this coming year in May and hopefully be able to afford my hobbies and lifestyle a lot easier. Until then, I choose party/have fun with the ppl around me. No matter how I slice it, if the car runs again, and actually works it still takes money to drive it/fix it. Highly modified cars are notorious for this, I enjoy starting my stockish rex up everyday and having nothing to worry about. ;)

Unfortunately i do not have a car to enter, but this sounds really cool. I would probably stop out one day. Id say give it a try this year, see what kind of response you get, both from the vendors and the visitors. I would be nice to have a small area setup in the future to have a car show and swap meet of sorts, even if it is kind of on the smaller side.

Question, you say you already have local companies lined up.... might I ask who? Both for sure and potentially.

^ Sunday will be pretty cool too - in a different area of the event they are actually have a hotrod car show, of which you can also get in for free if you decide to go to that area. So, Sunday will actually be pretty cool - keep in mind you guys can come back more than once.

- A special note: Parking will be limited for the spaces in the display area. I am guessing we wont have a 'ton' of people all show up at once though, so I dont think it will be a problem, I will come up with a backup plan for overflow.

On another note,
I just got back from setting up our 20x30 tent. I am not sure where parking will be for the vehicles that show up, I think it will be right next to use, but I will find out early in the am, and be there setting up more. Were are right across from this huge tractor trailer from California Customs (?) which is pretty cool.

...im so excited for more fair food lol
