I jumped in the boat saw some deals, I ended up picking up 10 shares of GM still looking around for other promising stocks.

Temped to buy into google but the shares are a little pricey.

tbh i wouldn't really invest in cars! The bail-out is vastly misunderstood by people... they aren't just handing GM money and saying ok here u go, fix ur shit! Its a bridge loan, they still have to pay it back... economy stays shitty -> they keep failing at selling enough cars -> they still go under. Just a prolonged process! If u wanna stay with cars though, look into ford. They'll be buying Chrysler here soon i believe.

I mean things could turn around, its not guaranteed they close or stay open. Its just not a "safe" investment for the time being. Don't put a lot of $ in it imo!

Good investments right now: Food companies who make basic stuff (lower price ranged foods; cereals, pastas ect) Kellogs, General mills, ramen noodle companies, stuff thats really good quantity for the $ (people being cheap and unsure about the stability of our market, lower end food product sales will go up considerably) and locally owned banks.

Ford's stock has never seen over 10 bucks a share for a few years now, at the beginning of the year GM was at 40 something a share,

Chrysler is buying GM or merging from what I heard not ford

I know all of you guys are gonna flame me for this and say stuff like screw Cavaliers and what not, but i think GM should be back the Cavalier, Not because i like them, its just that it was GM's most popular selling Vehicle for a few years in a row back in the day. I think if they do that then GM wouldn't be failing and going bankrupt. Also if they do then they wouldn't have to merge with Chrysler. Thats just my opinion. I also believe GM should also bring back the Trans Am sometime after the Camaro that way it wouldnt offset the sales of the Camaro right now.

Yeah it would just fuck up their sales of the Camaro when it comes out. I think that's one of GM's biggest foolie was making 2-4 of the SAME car with a different badge. More and more manufactures are doing the same unfortunately...Then they are just competeing against themselves.

The cobalt is a better version of the cavi, so there you have it. No need for another cavalier.

cavi had such a shitty rep, decent car, but all the kinks were never work, colbalt is basically the new cavi but better

i would have to say i would go with a cav. i dont want a glorifed cav in buying a cobalt. and i my opinion the cobalt is junk. im around them all day long. they look nice but they are made cheap. i dont wanna bash on the jobes that are keeping this area surviving. but the cav is better.

I'm gonna have to agree, the cobalt is just an attempt at a glorified cavi. I want my gas milage, not some shitty plastic interior pieces trying to make it look "sporty". Sure the new cobalt ss has like 260hp, but when you look at it, its still a $24,000 cobalt  You can't try to turn a economy car into a sports car.

The base cobalt used to be around 10g's, even that is up to 12.5 now and its exact same car as it was when it came out... i'd rather take the same money and buy a civic for a dd, better milage and about 2x road life for my money. And they wonder why sales are down? :nono:

Yea i heard the Cobalt sucks as well cause all the parts for it are manufactured in Japan and shipped to lordstown to be installed. At least thats what my girl's Dad said, He works for G.M. and he always has to fix them a lot at his dealership.LOL Its nice that the new cobalt SS is 260 Hp, but you can easily get that out of a Cavalier for a lot less. I can't wait for the Camaro to come out though, cause i heard the new V6 model is goin to be 300 Hp.

The new Cobalt SS actually impressed me a bit on its numbers. Not just hp and 1/4 mile times but what it was able to do on the road courses. I'd take a Cobalt over a Cavy ANY day. I think they look better as well, along with the interior looking a little less cheap than the Cav's.

fuck the cavaliers. they look dumb as fuck. and yea. spend lots of money putting a turbo into a cavalier to make it faster can of course make it a faster type sports car but then again, its just a cavalier. its a waste of money. look at the ss. those are like 13-14 second cars just stock. plus they look good. that can be said for a grand am. the new pontiacs that came out are basically the same story. just a whole lot costlier. but remember. almost everyone doesnt race. you guys are a small small percentage in the car industry no matter how many cars show up at taco bell and want to race. 90% of the cars out there are stock, and they will be driven only to destinations. so what would be the point in buying a cheap car like a cavalier and spending money to make it go fast, when you could buy a cobalt which is already stock and already fast stock just for a little more money?

my car may have the same type of engine as yours, but i feel if a person is gonna put a body kit and turbo on a cavalier, theyre just trying to fit in or else they would of bought something that already comes fast or something. im not saying people dont do it with other cars, which they do, but that kind of car just isnt made for that when coming off the factory line as to the ss is if people want to.

I drove one as well, i was surprised how quick it was. I'd still rather spend a little bit extra and buy a subie  Can pick up a new wrx for like 26...

cobalt ss and $2,000 vs wrx... HMMM...

I'd never buy a new car. I'd at least wait a few months to a year before purchase off a private seller. But very good point WRX > Cobalt SS all day.

well of course. just like the cav.

either a cav with money spent on turbo or a nice car (cobalt) which is already fast.

either a cobalt which is already nice and fast or a wrx which is already nice and faster for a few more.

im talking stock too. except the cavi.

Actually When G.M. Made the Toyota Cavalier the Japanese took the Cavalier and raced it the JGTC series. The Cavalier and other Jbodys actually seem to be a huge Orginazation. On Jbody.org we have 42,476 members and Growing... We have Members in Europe that drive the Chevy Cavalier and the Vauxhall Cavalier and the Australian guys drive both the chevy and the Vauxhall cavaliers as well. Then we got the Japanese members that drive the Toyota Cavalier, We got members in Canada and Mexico and Puerto Rico...... I'm sure there is more countries i missed.LOL

there may be 42,476 people on there but i bet half dont even race. so that leaves you with 20,000. and out of those, half are mostly stock. so that leaves you with 10,000 racers with cavaliers. now being its a car that wasnt made to go fast, anything done to it will be considered ''rice''. therefor even if they do know how to push a gas pedal, it doesnt change the fact theyre just trying to fit in.

I Never stated that the Cavalier is a "Race car" i just stated that the Japanese took this car and turned a few of them into a race car and raced it in the JGTC series. So your definition of rice is a car that has been cosmetically altered from its stock appearance is rice. if it is then more than a couple billion people on this planet have rice. What made you even start discussing the Race Car subject? there is No true Race Car that you can buy on a show room floor that just got shipped from the factory. People make Race cars from whichever they desire. The Vega was never really considered a "Race car" but people make them one and turn them into 10 second cars and faster. So you might want to start bashing on the Vega people now. I was just trying to say that Jbody's are an orginazation based on people's interests not on Racing like you may think. Now lets start getting this thread back on topic here.

I think GM needs to re-evaluate their decisions before merging with Chrysler cause there are a lot of ways GM can get out from under there bankruptcy. They should do what they did in the 60's and 70's and start making more muscle cars again instead of turning them into Family car like they did with the Malibu and the Impala.

when you said something about turboing a cavalier instead of just buying a cobalt.
