They sell decent but cheap laser temp gauges at Sears now a days. They work pretty good, I use mine for all sorts of things.
You can learn alot at an Auto-X by doing this, same with comparing suspension settings front to rear.
Also on your burnout you can adjust pressures in your slicks for optimum contact patch.

I've only been to the strip but whos know maybe once i get coilovers on my car I might try some auto-x.

thats a great idea for the track! I might have to invest.
