Postby 95gsx » Thu Dec 06, 2007 11:20 pm

I am currently rebuilding a 95 gsx w/ a 6 bolt swap and would love some help from you guys that have done this before. The car is in Berlin Center Ohio, which is only about 15 min from canfield. Let me know!

Hey dood! Mine 6bolt swapped, Cory and I did it last winter. I could stop by and lend a hand, let me know the details. You got the new engine ready?

The needs is quite long. However most of which are small things. The biggest need is FMIC piping. I already have the front mount which I had on my GST but never ran the piping due to me buying this GSX and knowing that I was keeping the FM.
Vince Barbone and I almost dropped the motor in Wed. afternoon, but then realized we had the wrong plate that goes between the motor and tranny. The correct plate was at my house (the car is at my g-ma's in a garage that has heat). So it is ready to drop in. Everything is painted and looking perty! But the hard part is going to come when I need to connect all the wiring and figure out what wires need to be fixed (due to the previous owner cutting up some of the harness).
A couple other things I need to work out are pipings/lines for my external oil cooler, I need to get the line that runs from the fuel filter to the fuel rail, need to buy some new exhaust mani studs (lost the other ones), need to find the bracket that bolts to the tranny and has the pass. side motor mount bolt to it (think I found one on DSMtuners, but if any of you guys have that bracket, let me know.), need the bolts that go through the front and rear tranny mounts.
That's just the short list / what I can think of at the moment. But like I said, I would def. appreciate some help from people who have built these up before as this is the 1st time I've really dug into one of these. So if you're interested, I'm thinking Thursday will be the day it gets dropped in. Post names, phone numbers and availability for next week starting Thurs.

So you bought an unfinished project eh?

Get all your shit together and all your mechanical stuff done and Im sure myself and prolly Seirra can help you on the wiring. I know 1g stuff like the back of my hand...but he can assist on the 2g harness.

I try to not work on 2gs if I can....they suck so bad comparitively haha

I'm down for it.

I have the fuel filter to fuel rail line if ya want it, btw! I think I have the banjo bolt too still.

Worst case scenario we go look at my wiring and see what isn't correct.

Yea, I would need the banjo and that line. That would be awesome. I guess that could be an A-1 trip if you can't find it. But yea, everything should be ready to drop in next thursday. Send me your numbers so I can give you a call wed. or so and figure out a time.

Nick, do you have a 2g data logger? I have an SAFCII that will be going in the car and it would be nice to have. I just don't have the money to buy one of those and was just hoping I could borrow someones for now.

No, I don't, It's on the list though so I may grab one soon. Setting the TPS is so much easier with the logger too, so you may just need to grab one.

Well guys, the motor and tranny are in the car. Now the fun begins! I still need the bracket that bolts to the tranny, and then the pass side motor mount bolts to it... but it should be ready to start connecting wires. Let me know if you guys wanna help! My cell is 330-727-3423. I will be working on it this weekend. Call anytime and I'll let you know how to get to my g-ma's house.

You caught us! We were just posing for the camera. We were bored and had nothing better to do than to go pretend to be putting a motor in my car.
Actaully, everything in that engine bay has been removed, sandblasted, cleaned and painted, so there is no need to be wearing "work clothes". I could go in there wearing all white, and come out looking the same way as I went in.
I have not messed w/ the car in a few days. The car is at my g-ma's house and she just passed away Sat. morning, so I have been a bit pre-occupied...

Well I need to go see my chiropractor now from looking at those pics, since half of them were sideways. I didn't know you had to stare at a Christmas tree in between rebuilding a car to achieve success. I'm going to have to try that next time..

clean kind of... dry usually.. i dunno wtf ur doin to get wet... but blood free definatly not. I always manage to bust a knuckle or cut myself on something.

I drive it whenever its not raining tho, thats enough in my book ;) too much trouble to keep it clean otherwise...

When you pull your motor a billion times coolant does happen to go everywhere when its coming out......... Also when its on the stand and you roll it over to remove the oil pan.. So therefore, chances of getting wet.

I honestly have no idea whats wrong with it. After it quit running, I bought my 92 GSX and never messed with it anymore.

UPDATE on the rebuild

Postby 95gsx » Sat Jan 19, 2008 8:18 pm

So I towed my car to Athens so I could work on it while going to school... and did so New Year's day at like 11pm (arriving at like 4:30am on the 2nd). And if you guys can recall, it was a snowy, icy mess. Long story short, I need to pull the engine out and re-sand and re-paint most of it due to all the salt that got all over the damn car!
