What model cobalt is it? if it is one of the SS models he more than likely used HP tuners, if its an ls or lt he didnt though.

I'm guessing he bought the garrett kit? That just comes with a reflash.
HPtuners doesn't support the e16 in the 2.2 cobalts, they only support the 2.2's in the cavys/sunfires. Currently the only tuning available for the 2.2 in the cobalts is by trifecta. A few people have used the smt-6 and the AEM F/IC but not many.
What does his car look like? id like to it sometime.

it's nothing crazy, just a garrett t3 super 60 on a tig'd log setup with all the plumbing & fuel system. Problem is that they tell their customers that when they send their computer in and have it remapped that it will be perfect. It's not, because they can't contol the variations in climate & elevation & garentee the type of fuel that these folks will be running in their cars let alone the battery injector offsets. So when the guy couldn't get his car to run properly for a couple months & the car only had 1300 miles on it, he was worried that he'd hurt the motor, so he tracked me down and i was able to get the car running properly for him.
now he can enjoy his car! i think his licence plate says something about (1st 100) or something like that.

yea thats why i steer clear from canned tunes. the only way they will somewhat work is if your running like 5psi and then its still not safe....or fun haha
