Oh damn I just checked the web site, it was originally on Father's day and I thought I missed it. I might be there we'll see.

Just go. Try it. It's fun.

There is no reason you would embarrass yourself, everyone starts from somewhere. I've seen someone autox a van before too. I used to autox a beat to hell Impreza 1.8L AWD with 200,000 miles on it. So I wouldn't worry about having a stock car or anything. Just go and have fun and don't worry about times.

Nice. I should have gone. I think I'm doing a "low-key autox" at Beaverun Saturday.

I remember when I was pulled over in Canfield in my wagon for a cracked windshield.

Cop: That is REALLY dangerous.
Me: Why?
Cop: Pauses....because it is
Me: What do you mean? How? Its not in my line of sight.
Cop: Pauses.... (Quickly answers clambering to give a response like he knew what was up to shut my mouth )Because it can blow out at any time!
Me: Fucking noob.

I laughed my ass off at that one.

happens to my dad like every few weeks. the window in his beater is cracked, cop pulls him over and the convo goes exactly as urs cory haha. he then procedes to tell the cop 'just cant put a $200 window in a $400 car' cop asks if he is gonna get it fixed and my dad straight up tells them no. and they still let him go every time without doing anything lol.

I've been pulled over for it once so far, by Canfield of course. He gave me a warning and I said what is wrong with it, he said "The state of Ohio deems it unsafe". I asked if I should get it fixed, he said "If you don't want to get pulled over again".

Tires are a huge improvement, have an instructor ride with you and see if he can help you get your times down... I can give you an idea if you're using the maximum potential of the car just by riding. Once you reach the cars potential tires could shave off another couple seconds, it shaved off 4 seconds on average for me.

I rode with Jeff the first time in May and he said I was doing well. I get advice from another Elantra AutoX'er as well, and I was told

BobMs_wht2k2 wrote:As for driving... just keep this in mind about the Elantra: You can Turn, OR you can brake, OR you can accelerate. You CANNOT do more than one at a time.... trust me! Don't coast. Either accelerate, or brake. If you're coasting you are wasting time. Brake late, and hard. then turn into the corner. Slow in, Fast out works WONDERS in our large heavy cars.

You want to ride with me on Sunday? I'd happily take pointers from the master.

yeah I'll ride with you....you can take the gates at angles whatever you need to do to set you up for the next gate and get you through as smooth as possible get into the throttle as early as you can but not too early cause you'll push...
