Nothing personal Tony, but I myself have heard about 15 people say the exact opposite of this, Soby being one of them. Most people say your car blows up every 10 miles/2 weeks because you suck at tuning, and are too stubborn to have a machinist/engine builder help put your bottom end together. I mean I really don't know because I've only seen your car a few times (all of which it was smoking like a train) but I'm just repeating what I hear. I've been kinda waiting for a thread like this to hear your side of the story.

How many motors have you actually popped, (stock block and dart block)? Cuz I've heard everything from like 5-20. Whats your best et and mph? (and 60' actually).

Did you really hook coolant lines up to vacuum ports on someones car?

Like I said I've never really asked you any of this but I'd really like to know if all the fucked up stories I hear are true....

I poped some stock blocks back in the day (02-03 ish i think), before i ever knew anything about cars because i was tryin to run boosted on an FMU, i never knew anything about AFR's & timing adjustments.

After head aches and lost funds, i decided that i needed to talk to some people with some experience. So my buddy Lee came down from MI to spend some time goin over things & giving me some info on where to start.

After that, i decided that i wanted to build an LS motor, so i rounded up some internals, and brough my block to the machine shop to get bored & honed, re-surfaced so that i could assemble. I did a lot of reading and barrowed some tools from my buddy's shop so that i could make sure i had things right. I also ported & polished the LS head to try and help it out a little bit because i knew i couldn't afford the vtec head & accessories (at the time they were goin for about 1200 bux plus conversion parts). This motor ended up lasting me 19 thousand miles before failure. Reason for failure was because i was at the end of a season and turned the boost up a little to high. The LS motor was the the first motor that i spent time tuning and working with and i had a really good time and it was a lot of fun. Unfortunatly, like everyone else, you get bored with the amount of power you have and want more. The motor pushed me to 12.6 @ 110 on street tires, but that just didnt' seem to be enough.

After that, i got my hands on what was said to be the holy grail of the honda (the beast block & head, made by dart). Unfortunatly, there were many problems with this engine right out of the box. Such as metal filings in all machined passages, incorrect tolorances on most parts. Incorrect size cams that would cause piston to valve contact if vtec was engauged, ect. This is why i got such a good deal on this motor, so i bought it knowing that i was going to tear it down and use the block & head. Anyways, i've had nothing but problems with this motor. You wouldn't think that you would have to align bore the main's on a brand new block, but they were not straight, so i did. I had many parts of this block machined so that it was usable, but i've been struggling. I hate to give up on this and go back to a stock honda casts block and have it sleeved but it may come to that, because i really don't wanna deal with this block anymore.

Thats pretty much where the car sits right now. I've been through a lot of traial and error with this engine and i'm just very unhappy with it.

I understand that there are a lot of negitive rumors out there and people say things just because they wanna feel like they are involved or know what they are talking about when they speak about cars, but most of what is heard is probably not true.

I'm no genius, i'm not an expert, and i have no clue where some of the comments come from. I'm just a guy who enjoys cars like most of you. I've struggled a lot with this car & i really don't want it to beat me, and thats probably what keeps me going on it. I've gotten pretty fed up with it at times and shoved it in the corner and pulled something else out of the toy box to work on, but in the end, i'll still end up trying again before i give up on it.

Hope that clears some things up for you guys.

btw, next time you guys go play in the snow, someone get at me!

ANYONE who has a boosted honda that i know it smokes. when i first boosted mine i got welcomed into the blowing smoke/leaking oil honda club. fortunatly i really dont leak any oil with my new turbo. ;)

Tony tuned my integra as well. It wasnt boosted but there was alot of adjustments to make because I went from stock B18 to Lower Compression LSVtec with bigger injectors and several bolt ons. I thought he did a great job and my car ran really well

Thats fucking hilarious. Who tuned their cars?

I heard your car runs like shit, thats in particular one of the tony tune horror stories I was told...someone is lying here. Have you ever taken it to the track?

Also I don't think n/a really counts, its not exactly sensitive to mistakes like a boosted application would be.

Tony you said 12.6 @ 110 on street tires? What was your 60' time on that pass? What was your best pass out of that dart motor?

dunno the 60' man, it was a few years ago.

i've yet to get a complete real pass out of the dart motor.. i've taken it to the track a couple times but never got all the bugs worked out, so it really shouldn't have been there to start with.

btw, you could try being nice. Nobody really has to answer to you! Not sure if it just makes you feel better or what but it comes off as being a real dick. I don't think i've ever done anything to you to deserve to be treated like that?

Post subject: FS: 2000 HONDA CIVIC SI EM1

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The time has come for me to get rid of my car. Ive had this since i was 17 and put alot of time and effort into it through out the years. i would consider trades for street bikes 600cc or more, equal value or +cash.

2000 Honda Civic
Milano Red EM1 Si
78,151 Miles
$9000 obo

Suspension: Koni yellow with ground control coilovers
Comptech rear tie bar
Blox control arms

Brakes:
Summit brand drilled and slotted rotors
Ebc green stuff pads

Transmission:
Act 6 puck sprung clutch
Bearings were replaced last year
Dc short throw
Shifts smooth except 3rd gear on downshift you have to act like your going into second then put it to 3rd not straight from 4th or it will grind.

Motor:
Precesion 650cc Injectors
Pwjdm cam seal
Fuel pressure regulator with guage

My Turbo kit was pieced together by me 2 years ago. i planned on building the motor last winter but never got around to it.

Turbo setup:
RLD-fab ramhorn manifold from what i see this is kinds of rare.
Precesion gt32e non ball bearing Turbo (little shaft play and leaks no oil)
Tial 38mm wastgate
Tial bov
Precesion 500whp intercooler
All aluminum charge pipe
2 1/2 inch downpipe to 3 inch kteller exhaust with hooker exaust. sounds really good but not loud at all.
Tuned on chrome pro

Wheels:
15in rota c8's
Kumho Ecsta AST Tires. Fronts are 205/50/15 Rears are 195/50/15
Front tires have about 5000 miles on them
Rear are about 40% tread life

Looks:
Cucso CF hood (neeeds recleared, i think it faded because of heat from the manifold)
M3 spoiler

Interior:
Pioneer Deck
Pwjdm Red Stitch Shift Boot
Gsr Shift Knob
Aem wideband
Auto meter Boost gauge
2 Gauge Pillar Pod

I have never ran it at the track with this setup. my previous setup i had on the car went 13.7 but that was only at 240hp with a cheap setup i pieced together at first. that was the only time it had seen the track. i never got the new setup on the dyno, it is only on a street tune which is good but to get the most out of it i would get someone to dyno tune it. i was going to but i hardly drive the car so i didnt spend the money to do it.

Cons:

The car has NO airbags. and NO the car wasnt in an accident. The car has a clean title. it was kind of a freak thing but i was on my way to school one morning driving down the road then boom they deployed, i had no idea what happened i pulled over and called a tow tow truck, the towed it straight to honda where the went over it and said a rock had hit one of the sensors and there was nothing to do to cover it because the car had over 40k miles on it (it had like 45k at the time) , so i never had it fixed. you can buy complete srs units from a junk yard for cheap. some poeple can vouch for the story on here.

If you want the full pontentiol of the car i would suggest getting it dyno tuned at a reputable shop. like i said it runs really good but is really rich. i can pull 2/3 car lengths from my friends gli that has ever bolt on possible, water meth injection and its chipped.

The car has little dings for a 10 year old car, the paint is not perfect. but overall i would give it a 7 out of 10. there is a scratch on the rear quarter about 6 inches long right on the side.i will get a picture of it.

Overall the car needs a tune, Steering wheel and air bag tray and a new home.

that wasn't my motor, it was my friend scotts (remember, you picked it up at his house, not mine)

I told you that i changed some gaskets on it for him and then it sat in his garage for a few years. He said to try and get it to go and if not you could bring it back and get your money back. You tried to get it to go and obviously did. I have no idea what you dumped into it because you never updated me.

I can't help you didn't know how to hook up your coolant lines and hooked them up to your crank case breether and filled your crank case with coolant. YOU installed your motor and did that. I even tried to help you after this by donating 20 qts. of oil for you to flush your engine out with.

I did nothing but try and help you, over and over. If you want to continue to complain over the internet then so be it. Bash me all you like. Enjoy, but everyone else that i've ever delt with on here knows that i've gone above and beyond to help them at some point, or spent hours on the phone answering questions for them.

Well the whole reason I asked the 60' is because that ET and MPH don't match for a fwd car on street tires. Typically a fwd car on street tires would need more mph to run 12.6, unless it came out really well. Don't you keep your time slips, especially on your best pass?

So you don't want to say the best pass you got out of that dart motor because its not good or what? It's not like keeping it to yourself will make it better...

I don't think I'm being a dick at all, I mean when someone says something to the effect of "all turbo hondas smoke", thats just fucking retarded. I'm not even asking you unreasonable questions, I'm just repeating what people are telling me and asking if its true. If it wasn't true it wouldn't make you mad or make you feel like I'm being an asshole by bringing it up. Like last night I heard that theres no way you were popping stock blocks (a ridiculous statement itself btw) back in 02-03 because you had an automatic d-series on the bottle that ran like 16.9, and that it took you like two or three years just to swap the b-series into your car, which was in 05. But like I said, I don't really know I'm just sayin.

why is it that telling it like it is or asking the right questions would make one a dick ??

i mean bill busts my balls all the time if i do something wrong or stupid hes there to set me straight

i mean if i bought a motor capable of running 12 sec passes then turboed it and only ran 12.6 i think everyone would bust my balls not suck them

i can pretty much vouch for soby and his isues since i was on the phone with "someone" who had been there working on the car kept callin me with questions about the crx then i finally a friend larry called me and asked if i could go look at it i get there maybe its me being anal or just doing things right i spent my first hour going over EVERYTHING i found a few errors major errors all in all with a few hours had it running pretty good thats

but then again the most i can brag about is a 15.1 ls crx that had a prior best of 15.8 on a d15b2 wich was still faster than most z6 or a6 crx's oh not to mention my ls swap ran 16.36 on 3 cylinders wich was still faster than someones n20 z6 car and i think they had a turbo ls that made a pass slower than that bill and tom can vouch for all 3 of the listed passes
but this is my year to see what i got
