i want this to be a "bullet proof motor" obviously i want everything forged. Plan for a 383 motor forged crank, connecting rods, and pistons. my question on pistons are where to find pistons allowing for an 9:1 comperssion, and should they be race pistons that expand as they heat? or regular pistons

how is the car going to be driven? track only or some commuting/cruising?

Bullet proof for how much hp and what rpm? haha. 'bulletproof' is pretty vague.

i wanna be able to take it out on the street and drive it without killing myself. its not gunna be a highway car though because of the gears. what do u guys think would be a decent RPM for the motor if i wanted to run somewhere around 20 psi?

thats still pretty vague... a totally indestructible bottom end will run u upwards of 6,000. lol

How high u rev the motor is gonna be dependent on the heads/cam setup you run... psi doesn't have anything to do with it

if your not taking the car over 6500-7000 rpms I'd probably just recommend some eagle h-beam rods and a scat steel crank

if u plan on spending a lot of money on a really good set of heads and put an aggressive cam in the car (making power to like 8000+) i'd upgrade to the superlight steel crank and a set of oliver billit rods

all how much money u wanna spend and what power numbers ur tryin to reach... its really hard to plan a bottom end without knowing what u plan on doing to the top half of the motor

yea i dunno yet... i'll keep the stock heads and get them ported, but as for the cam i'll let u know after i get back from work 12 hours from now....
