Anything in the works for this summer?

Postby Balt21 » Fri Feb 26, 2010 11:38 pm

Well, I know it's early, and as I type this we are getting pounded with snow...again, but is there anyone working on getting an organized meet together for this summer again like DNA/find ways to improve on DNA?

Shot in the dark with this thread, but whatever, i'm bored and these forums are dead.

i like dna.. atleast we would have somewhere to park and hangout when nothing else is going on, if i were running dna i would contact someone with a food stand and have them set up(they could keep 100% profit they make) any1 with a stand would jump on that.... also ADVERTISE, word of mouth only does soo much and the word of mouth is tainting dna, mostly because lack of structure. hopefully dna will continue and will grown but its not going to do it on its own a little time needs to put in to make this take off and im confident it will it just needs the effort(if any help is needed just let me know and ill be glad to help)

i think dna went well for the first month and a half. Biggest two problems with the NTB location: no place to piss and no food.

Seriously, i bet there has to be at least one Autozone or Advance Auto Parts store in the area that would be willing to let this show happen in their parking lot that also has a place next to it to eat and has a bathroom. Plus you could actually go and buy shit at the store if you need it because those two stores are open till 9 or 10 in the summer. Or is someone knows of a garage or shop that would be willing to let us chill there that would be even better if they were open while the show goes on.

walk your butt over to ge to piss.. and food sounds like a great idea... i talked to vaccar a moth ago just about.. he said he wants to do dna again but he would start worrieing a bout that after he is done with he tour or w/e.. i forget exactly what he said.. maby a few other people can take charge that will be there everytime or atleast have enough people incharge so theres atleast someone there.... NTB's location is a great spot if you ask me cuz its right there on one of the biggest intersections plus 680 is right there..

I'd be happy to help out with whatever. I still don't know exactly where Rob's shop is, from his show thread I gathered it is in Struthers/south side though. IMO you will get a lot more people to come to boardman than struthers on a regular basis. Like Noah said, if you could get a food stand it would be cool. Aside from Giant Eagle, there is a gas station across the street and a mcdonalds in the same parking lot. Like Slick Nick said, it was good for the first month or so and then it died, but I think that was also when the no burn out rule got tossed to the side and people started doing dumb stuff, which then started turning others off to DNA.

I also think if we had a once or twice a month actual show that we really advertised it might get more people to come to the meets. For instance, have this month be a domestic show, next euros, Japanese, etc.

bigger turnout if you didnt make it a selected group for shows... and thanks for that info drew where have you been ? and DNA was real gay mostly because after a while 4 cars tops would be there .... hell dave the person who would throw it wouldnt even come if the host throws a party and doesnt come why would anyone else as for the food/piss thing gas station and mcdonalds all within walking distance and a taco bell.... advertising is where its lacking word of mouth isnt doing it have a local news station do a 1 min thing of it throw it in the paper something

DNA kinda needs an overhaul....but I'll try to be out as I'm itching so badly for car season.

...though I might not get recognized right away as there is a 99% chance I will be in a C5 8-)

The selected group is just an idea, and it wouldn't be like no other car would be allowed in that night or anything, just something to differentiate it from any other meet. I'm gonna try not to be a dick about this, and I don't mean to just point fingers at you but...
itsalaser wrote:advertising is where its lacking word of mouth isnt doing it

This I completely agree with; however,
itsalaser wrote:DNA was real gay mostly because after a while 4 cars tops would be there
is one of the reasons that word of mouth isn't doing it. If the people who are trying to make it better are bad mouthing it, why should we expect other people outside of these forums to come. It is true that there were times only a few were there, but what's the point of saying all of the negatives of DNA without any ideas to improve upon the negatives.

yeah but with how people are on these forums its gunna be difficult ricer burners give imports bad names which turns the older crowd away. young kids nutswinging with v8s turn us away. and we turn away them unless they came to do a burnout to ruin the meet or just to nutswing some more.... i wouldnt of minded it so much if it was actually fun and i want this to happen more than the next guy BUT im not gunna be like oh yeah go to dna its awesome when its lame! it wont get good rep unless we make it work until then people off the forums wont give a shit theyd much rather sit at taco bell or just drive around then sit in a dark parking lot with 10 other people 4 of which who actually brought there car..... 1 or 2 years ago taco bell saw way more cars on a nightly bases then an actual meet .

why does this have to be in boardman. I think the thing i will gripe about the most is its location. NTB is alright because its right off 680 and easy for alot of people to get to, but then again i think if it was some where right on 224 it would be seen by more people. Like maybe the plaza down by taco bell or something. Or maybe not in boardman at all. Austintown would be cool because its a central location to people from boardman and niles. The trouble would be finding a good spot in austintown that someone would let us do it.

Boardman has always been the central area for car gatherings. Something about it just feels so ... right!

Agreed.

There is an Autozone right near the intersection of mahoning ave and rt 46 by where Sheetz is. That would be a sick ass location, probably just as busy as boardman area. I know there probably isnt as much room as NTB, but if it gets to the point where there is consistantly enough cars that go there that we cant use that parking lot anymore than well, lol, cross that bridge when we get to it.

Another good location would be the Advance Auto Parts on mahoning ave near rt 11. Its right by all of those car dealerships i think.

And i mean, if neither of those places are interested in letting us chill there, than there are other places to consider on Mahoning ave and 46. i mean, all NTB did was not call the cops, let us sit in their parking lot and sometimes turned the lights on for us. If thats the bar that was set for hosting a meet, we can find other places that would do the same.

Those actually would be really good places, the only downfall I see is what NIck said. Boardman is kinda known for the car area so no one really just cruises around austintown, at least that I know of. The old lincoln dealership like someone said earlier would be good too, that would just be a pain to get permission I think b/c its not actually a business currently. Another place to consider would be chilis. They used to have the muscle car meets there all the time, but don't anymore. They might be willing to let us use that lot, unless something went down there with the muscle guys and that's why they are down on south ave now also.
