let clear a couple things up in this thread.
Throttle Switch:
it was mentioned that you need a full throttle switch or to buy one.. well the zex kit comes with it built into the computer box, you just hook up the tps wire.
Plugs:
Colder plugs are pretty much a requirement for nitrous, don't cry about this, they are like a 10 doller or less upgrade!
Tuning:
Is it required, no.
Do you want your motor to last, yes
Should you tune it, yes, you will make things safe, and pull more power from the kit. Making your money well spent.
Personal Experience:
For one season i ran a zex kit on my origional d16 with a 75 shot. I had NO internal work done. I adjusted the timing (distributor) 2 degrees as per the zex instructions. I upgraded to irridium plugs, i ran premium fuel, and I BLEW THROUGH 5 BOTTLES (bout 250 bux when you figure almost 50 a fill) that summer. Motor was perfectly fine, speeding ticket count was at record high, and never had any problems other than goin through a couple sets of plugs due wrong heat range & cold plugs. No biggie.
That motor lived a long life after that experience. It went through two other owners that i know of (lost track of it after that) after i upgraded. That motor was in great shape.
I personally was sick of filling the bottle, but i liked to have it avaliable. So i upgraded to a turbo setup and retained my nitrous setup. It's still in the car today and eventually it will be used again. I haven't had a need for it because i haven't maxed out a turbo yet but one day i'll probably spray the intercooler with it and inject on top end a little for fun.
ohh & someone needs to get off the meth kick. it's not the be all and end all to the performance world. It should be thought of as an after through to sqeeze more power from an over extended FI setup.
