yes i'm familure.. good unit.. pricey, but good!

& 400 should be a good time on the street, provided you can get some hook.

actually it was too bad the turbo was 100 bucks cheaper then a garret 3076. one thing i like also is a chra from garret is like 1200 bucks or somethin to where the bw is like 600 i beieve. also i want the loud sound and to know i dont have the same turbo as most other vw do

correct me if i'm wrong but the reason in the difference in cost between the two chra's is because the 3076 is ball bearing and the 256 from BW is not.

thats correct. but the spool rate on this turbo is almost identical to a 3076. not much difference in the graphs

yea.. it's definatly a good turbo, i'm still trying to decide how much fundage i wanna spend on my new turbo.. thats really the determining factor on what i'm gonna purchase.

lookin at

sc61 for the cheapo factor
35r coz i like the spool time and power range

my issue is as long as i'm spooled by the 4500rpm range.. i can carry it till 10,000rpm so i'm just trying to figure out how important that extra 7-800rpm spool time is to me or if i wanna use the delay as traction control (street wise, gotz slix for track). It's all up in the air at the moment, i'll have to figure it out in the next couple weeks tho.

Borg Warner S256 Dyno « » 3:04 PM 11-22-2008 Reply to this post

25 psi on 93 octane. Full boost at 4200. These turbos are non BB too. The 256 is just a tick bigger than a 3076,

Eurodyne 630 file
IE rods with stock pistons
Stock head and cams with OEM TT intake manifold
Custom log manifold
Custom FMIC
3" downpipe
Probably some other little stuff I'm leaving out.

I need to get some pics of the complete build up. It's pretty slick, engine bay looks pretty clean just a big turbo in back, all IC piping runs underneath. Engine cover would fit no problem.

Modified by 1.BillyT at 9:50 PM 11-22-2008

and here is a pic compared to the garret 30076r......

that dyno plot looks like a smooth power range but i'd be a little more interested in seeing it with rpm's on the bottom to better show spool characteristics on your motor.

Yea i've seen the size compairison on HT, how much space do you have behind your motor for that thing?

just enough.. haha...

iv seen people on the jbody sites squeeze turbos on the ld9's and every time they accelerate the turbo smacks the firewall because the motor mounts are really stretchy, bouncy, whatever you want to call it..

Let me get this straight, could be a slightly ignorant post here but you paided 2k for a journal bearing turbo? I thought Borg Warners were more on the cheap side.

You never considered the HTA 30r?

EDIT: I just read more into your post. I see it wasnt 2k.

i have enough room to fit a 35r in there. lol. ane nice new stiff motor mounts to hold that bish in place. i paid 2k for turbo, down pipe and manifold. looked at the hta from sav but didnt wanna spend that much on a turbo right now as im kinda worried about my job since i work at greenwood.

I gotcha, doesn't sound like a bad deal granted they are quality components. Money is always an issue. Life first, car second.
