A 3,000 rpm torque converter is pretty much the norm. Anything lower than that's basically a waste of money. It's what I have in my car but, but it's still not enough. (Thunder Racing reccomends at least a 3500 for my cam) so I'll probably just swap it out and get a 4k. As far as the tranny is concerned, you might as well forget the shift kit if you plan on making over 400rwhp. Shift kits simply firm up your shift points and are adequte for a stock or simple bolt-on car (Trans-Go and B&M both make good kits) but they don't reinforce the life or strength of your transmission in anyway. Like I said, if you plan on getting super serious with this thing, you might as well get yours built by Rossler or buy a completely new race-built transmission from a proven, reputable racing tranny shop.

They usually break at around the low 12 second range, but if you're making anything in the 450-500rwhp range, expect to be in the mid-low 11s. A Moser 12 bolt rear end is about $2300 (for a fully loaded one) or you can get one with a spool(GREAT for drag racing, almost useless around any kind of corners) and without any of the ABS connectors for about $1800-$1900. After seeing what others have been through, you're better off just swapping in a budget 9" or an 8.8" prior to building this monster. But if you want to stick with GM/Moser, then just save for the 12 bolt.
