i bought a 2003 pontiac grand am gt v6 ram air edition. now before you jump my nuts, ive never been a grand am fan, either... but this thing is CLEAN. loaded. only option it doesnt have... is leather. which that is fine by me. scoots pretty good, too. 200 hp. 240 ft lbs of torque. book is $10, 300, average trade is $8,250, and i paid $7200. my dads buddy sold it to me. i couldnt resist. put new moog tie rod ends on it and then took it to the shop and did alignment and new fuzion hri tires. ima start looking for parts, so if anyone knows anyone selling, lemme know. i had an sho with crank, rods, je pistions, port polish, torkker cams and valves, header back, and intake with a 2 stage throttle body that my dad made. it put about 315hp down on the dyno, so im pretty sure i can unlock quite a bit of power from this thing. this is... i feel like a wang driving a grand am. i need love and support. haha. like i say... i think any car can be a rockin ride, as long as its done right. except a kia.

Not sure the exact potential in a grand-am other than a daily driver... I'd consider all options before you start spending money.

I could be being ignorant right now, I've never really seen a built grand-am, minus wheels, speakers and some neons....

i totally understand your concern. i always felt that grand ams were for jocks and ex- marine jar-heads. but i assure you, i am neither. haha... ive done a lil research and it seems like there is some potential. neons are out and so are dubs. im the kinda guy that gets straight to the fuckin point.

my only argument is... if it were anything else but a gt, i wouldnt do it. im already playing with a lil bit of power and they make quite a few parts. injectors, ignition, underdrive, intakes, exhausts, manifolds, etc. port, polish, you know... thing is... i had that sho... it had about the same specs this did and when i was finished, i put on about 95 h.p. not a bad gain. especially when your hittin mid- 13's in the quarter driving a 3100 lb car. dont hate. yes, it is a grand am... but i never cease to amaze.

Don't forget the SHO is also a 5.0 liter, thus the smaller mods see a bigger performance jump since the displacement is greater than your grand-ams. I guess my main turn off to a grand-am is auto only. I just cant do auto anything.

I'm interested into seeing your ideas for upgrades and the final product.

correction... the sho from 88-95 was available in (manuel) 3litre and (auto) 3.2litre. 96-99 it was available in auto-only as a 3.4 litre v8. surprised? i know quite a bit about them

also... about auto... ever heard of a torque/stahl converter? put the right one in (a rear wheel drive car) and it will launch twice as hard as any manual... thing is... this is only my 2nd auto... my sho was, too. i agree with the concerd about it being a grand am, though.

i could probably steal 2 off a 3000 gt, but i wanna stay out of engine management as much as i can. i have no doubts that i can hit the 300 mark while keeping it n/a. will i? probably not.

See I am ignorant to other races.... I've always thought it was the 5 liter, what other body was that motor placed in?

oh I totally missed that. Yeah Killer I see what you are coming from with a drag stand point. But its just personal preference when driving anything. I'd rather have my hand and left foot in control of my shifts. Heel Toeing FTW. Slap shifting down FTL.
