Thinking about an 87 T/A.

Postby Jrcz24 » Fri Mar 20, 2009 8:14 pm

Hey guys I was thinking of trading the daily for this 87 Trans Am. Opinions are welcome.

This is the craigslist ad.

http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/cto/1084348487.html

And this is what he told me about the car.

"The car is an automatic....there are several little things wrong...the door handle is busted on the drivers side door and there is a leak in the brake line, the seats are torn up and the rear end bracket needs welding work done ..it does run and is drivable but it does need some work..194,000 miles..as far as trading i would definitely consider it.."

As far as my car goes, there is nothing major wrong with it except for rust issues, Fresh oil change done today, Wiper motor or switch isn't working properly.

think of it this way... with gas motors most piston rings start to wear bad if not go around 180k... unless that has a fresh set it'll need that. i'm not a huge fan of those tpi motors but talk to the riceklr dude on here ... i believe he has the same motor..ask him about it if your interested... cars probably only worth 1500 or so

Thats alot of miles. Mine only has 47k :P i wouldn't mess with it with that many miles. My limit is 135,000 depending on what u plan to do with it. My Riviera had the 3800 supercharged motor in it and 278,000 miles on it and it ran great. i took it to the track. :D

The guy said that he also wanted to send me more detailed pics, because he said the car had more rust on it than my cav. That right there turned me away, cause my cav has recieved a lot of rust this past winter and I even sent the pics of the rust to him. So I'm assuming the car is rotted all to hell far worse than my cav.
