why is it you never see people putting honda motors in other types of cars? ex: ls1's go in a bunch of older model cars/street rods/mustangs/import cars (rx7s 240s 350z, etc) why wouldnt anyone put "the beast" in something else besides a rusty mid 90s honda?

ls1's go into cars that weight a lot more than Honda's. Not to mention all the platforms you listed above are RWD. Hondas are generally all FWD. Therefore they stay in light weight Honda's.

You can get a Honda down to 2000-2200 lbs pretty damn easy. Not to mention even lighter if you really want.... So you don't exactly need 1000hp to be retarded fast....1 hp for that Honda is about 1.5 hp for you equally...

I don't really understand the bickering. Why can't anyone just say 'cool man, good luck with it!' Tony is a really nice kid, who seems willing to help anyone out. I don't see the point in shitting on his build. His car might not be to everyones taste, but it's still done nicely and runs very well. There isn't one person on here that wouldn't have a smile on their face after driving it.

Cars' don't have to be RWD or v8s to be fun. I know Gary enjoys his srt4. I like my GST. Are they the best platforms? Maybe yes, maybe no. But we still enjoy them.

$.02

FWIW I like the old shoguns better :P

No doubt the ls1 is a popular swap (booth for performance and just for the sake of doing somthing different), I think it can be a great engine for many cars, including imports

But does a motor, such as the 'beast', really need to be thrown in random different cars to prove its efficency for the car it was intended to be put into?

So are you gonna drill those wheels for the tires? It seems to be a thing I see all over the with Bias_Ply tires on FWDs it seems alot fo the ones making great power tend to spin the wheel inside the tire....just curious? Looks mean, what are they 12.5 wides or 10.5w's ?

Just think whoever gets this SS after me will have no idea it went consistant 12.30s

aren't the wheels/tires supposed to stay inside the fenders?

Ehh, i fit 80% of them inside the fenders.. i'm not to worried about it. I figure, i'm only gonna be using it at the track like this so i'll just have to clean the sides of the car after going to the track.

Most of the time it will have the normal street tires on it.

it's been done by a lot of civic's in the past with anywhere from 475whp - 525whp depending on their driving. My car is only 2400 lbs. so we'll see what happens. Obviously i'm probly not gonna nail it on my first attempt, but it's a goal that i've set to try & reach by the end of the season. All i can do is try!

yea it was already 8.1 in the 1/8th & that was with a crappy 2.0 60' due to having street tires!

Now i will have added another 250whp or so, and nice tall slix.

its common sense to put screws through your wheels/slicks so the tires wont spin on the wheels... i have 8 on each side of each rear wheel, it was painful to drill 32 holes in my NIB 15x10 convo pros

I think it'd be better advice to tell him to check for tire/wheel slippage first before he goes and spends money/time don't you think?

VERY few import cars can launch hard enough to warrant putting screws into the wheels. VERY few. I know of only a handful.

AKA a 2500lb Honda pulling 1.60's is not going to need them.
96 GST - Formerly 721whp :(

Back to 300whp stock-ish setup.

We talked about it tonight actually. He is going to mark it on the wheel and on the slick, and then after a few passes check to see if it moved at all. If the slick has moved from the wheel (which it more than likely will not) he said he will put screws in.

Remember though like I said, even street tires will move a little. It's 110% going to move on the rim, by how much is whether or not you should be drilling them.

Their not going to hook like a RWD, where the weight transfer lays down on the rear tires... Even the pro Honda guys running slicks don't just "hook" they still spin a little... just at a lot slower rate than on street tires allowing them to make up ground much faster.
