What year is that t-case?

Low on fluids? Was it attached with all 5 bolts?

Seems like an odd issue to break the tailshaft in that.

That's with evo's. You run stock t-cases on DSMs.

I've seen 8 sec cars with them....soooo enough to where you really don't need one. Ever.

Junk_DSM tends to disagree.

JunkDSM needs to find out why it failed.

It's not a 'strength' issue.

Probably just empty. Junk, do you know when the seals were replaced last?

I see no fluid being shot out at all anywhere... That case had to have been empty.

Is your guy's T-case fluid separate from the trans case I take it?

Ill rephrase.

Is your guy's Transfer case fluid separate from the transmission case I take it?

Lol.....yea it's totally separate. These don't just fail from having power going through them on a dyno. It looks old as hell, prolly recieved 100s of 6k dumps, ran with old seals and dry if not close too it. Granted there's not a ton of fluid in them, but there's fluid.

Literally like every case of them getting destroyed is a case of old age and abuse. A guy on DSMtalk had one fail on his 8sec car this hard, but they constantly use STOCK t-cases, in a 5spd car no less. They went through them every now and then if they broke that imput shaft on a launch....a 4 slicked 800HP launch. They had one fail and they tossed a 160k t-case in with no prior knowlegde of it's history and it broke spinning at like 150mph at close to 9krpm through 4th I believe (not sure how those figures cross, but im just saying it was UP there).

There's also MANY things that could affect that shaft shearing......we can just pretend we know wtf we are talking about though. Happens alot here anyhow.

like stated above, tail shafts don't just 'break'... had to be some source for that. Probably low on fluid causing it to weaken over time from heat and eventually snapped.

it was full of fluid the guy from track gave me a bag of rags to wipe it all up

as for the age. it came from a 90 mileage is unknown but it for sure had the shit beat out of it from the previous 2 owners i knew that owned the car it came from

anycase new one is installed im just waiting for a TNT so i can go break more stuff

90=smaller spline count

That plus the 19yrs of abuse didn't help

Gosh that's old..
