Take back the keys!

Okay so I just got into detailing and I bought a bunch of over the counter products.
Now I'm trying to figure out what wax and polish to use on my black Z. I was thinking about using Meg #7 for polishing and then Meg Gold Class for wax. Anyone got any recommendations?

Heres my plan:

1. Dish soap wash (to strip off any old wax)
2. Clay Bar
3. Wash again with Meg Gold Class wash
4. SwirlX my whole car (is that okay?)
5. Polish - which OTC polish?
6. Wax - what wax? LIQUID OR PASTE?

I'm doing all this by hand. And is there any difference in CLEANER WAXES? I was told they go in between polishing and waxing, but they clean the paint so wouldnt they just strip the polish if applied?

Any other tips welcomed! Please no "Zaino" or stuff I need online, I cant afford them and they arent easily accessible.

Zymol is the best wax I have ever used as far as getting a nice shine on already clean/nice paint. Blue liquid stuff in a bottle can be found at advance or a-zone for around 13 bucks i think.

I'm extremely anal with the cleanliness of my stuff (as most people who know me will attest to) and I've used just about everything in the book as far as cleaners and waxes are concerned.

SwirlX: Never used it personally, but its basically just a very fine grade compound to take out light surface scratches in the clearcoat. I'd suggest doing it with a buffer, doing the whole car properly by hand will take FOREVER...

For claybar/cleaning waxes: Mothers California Gold products

Deep shine and protection: Collinite Liquid Insulator Wax (best shit evar, period.) Last i checked autozone still sold it, if they don't the only other place i know of is Bernards in Canfield.

Ive introduced several friends to the collinite insulator wax and all of them have agreed they've never used anything better.

For anyone else reading this and wanting to try it, before u start using the insulator wax you MUSTstrip your existing wax, and apply at least one coat of a cleaner wax prior to your first application.

If you're going to do this whole process i suggest doing it all in the same day. u wanna get the base coats of the cleaner wax/protection wax on right after the Swirlx (before the car can get dusty/dirty) i suggest u set aside pretty much the entire day if ur gona do it right.

After doing all the work, the upkeep is easy

Yeah that's what I plan on doing, I got nothing else to do anyways since I cant drive my car lol. I just dont want it to rain.

liquid glass is the be all and end all of wax. End of story.

+1 for insulator wax but it is hard to take off the first time well at least it was hard for me to take it off the first time haha.

I just bought a bunch of Meguiars shit and started from 12pm till 8pm, no breaks no food. End result was alright. SwirlX didnt do SHIT. And when I claybarred it, I put too much pressure and got marring all over my car. The polish fixed the marring though. Then I put on a coat of Gold Class. I'm going to put on another coat tomorrow. And maybe a 3rd coat to make me satisfied.

In the end, I wished I hadn't waste all my money on these OTC stuff. Could have gotten better quality shit.

I like the Meguiar's NXT 2.0 liquid polish/wax.
