Tony's introduction thread

Postby Running925 » Tue Dec 02, 2008 1:12 pm

Hey guys, i figured i'd toss this up here coz i never made a "noob" thread. I'm 25 years old and i've been playin with cars since before i got my drivers licence. I've always been facinated with performane and couldn't get enough of supernats when i was little. My knowlage of automotive performance has grown rapidly over the years and if i've learn anything, it's that there is always more to learn and that there are always people out there that can teach you something new. My focus over the past 5 or 6 years has been primarily in the honda scene, but i like pretty much anything thats been modified tastefully. I enjoy being the underdog with the 4cyl because i alwasy feel like i'm striving to improve myself and my car to become better and catch the big guys.

Anyways, some of you know me and some don't, i'm a full time computer technician and i work on cars in the evening. My lifestyle is pretty simple, my computer job pays the normal cost of living bills. When i want to work on or play with my car, the funds come from work that i've done out of my garage. If i don't work hard after hours, i don't get to play. I work very hard to enjoy my toys and they mean a lot to me. Some day i hope to open a shop and work in the automotive performance industry full time.

I do some custom paint work, custom fabrication & one off items, i powder coat (walk in oven), and build turbo systems.

For those that don't know my car, i drive a heavily modified honda civic.

it's modeled after the b-series motors but it's actuall a Dart Block mated up to a Dart head.

The Dart Closed Deck Blockholds
89mm (stroke) x 84.5mm (bore)
CP 9.0:1 Pistons
Eagle Crank
Eagle Rods

Dart Head is CNC port & polished for exact flow to each cylinder
(no longer made)
2mm over sized vlaves
Using an Elelbrock victor X intake manifold (polished)

I would have to say that the eagle rods are going to be my weakest point in the motor as it's assembled currently. They are rated for 600whp, i've concidered changing them out with a set of manly turbo tuff rods just to that it's capable of 800's but i really don't plan to make that much power. I've talked to the Dart tech's before and they said that hey have run 50psi on a a couple t4 ball bearing turbos durring testing of their sleeves and it's held.

You can find info on the block at http://www.dartheads.com

The goal for this thing has been to make a 10sec. pass down the track. I had a lot of problems getting everything right last season & didn't meet my goal yet. I believe that i've got everything in order now & hope to accomplish that & more this season.

Glad to hear it's in good shape. We should really spend soem time on the dyno fine tuning that thing a little more if you end up keeping it another season. Or just throw some pistons (450) & rods (300) at it so we can crank the boost up to about 450 ish ;)
