Gas Prices

Postby BOOST3DWRX » Sun Mar 16, 2008 1:25 pm

I pulled this from Myspace I read it before and it seems to be true for the most part the big oil companies are who are controling the prices.

For my car driving friends...

Subject: Gas*THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL
SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.*

*This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his
engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas
prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to
read this please.*

*Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day"
campaign that was going around last April or May!*
*It's worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!!*

*I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer and it
might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down?*

*We need to take some intelligent, united action. The oil companies just
laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves
by refusing to buy gas.*

*It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can Really
work. Please read on and join with us!*

*By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is super
cheap. Me too! It is currently $2.98 for regular unleaded in my town.*

*Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to
think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to
take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace.**.
**.not sellers.*

*With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to
take action.*

*The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit
someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that
WITHOUT hurting ourselves.*

*How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.*

*But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a
price war.*

*Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline
from the two biggest companies (which now are one),** EXXON** and **MOBIL.*

*If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their
prices. * *If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to
follow suit.*

*But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and
Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at
this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach
millions of people!!*

*I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten
more (30 x 10 = 300) .. and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x *
*10 = 3,000)...**and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group
of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers**.
**If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each,
then 30 million people will have been contacted!*

*If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION
PEOPLE!!!*

*Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!*

*(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to
do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a
mathematician. But I am . so trust me on this one.*

*How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten
more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could
conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!*

*I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you!
Acting together we can make a difference.*

*If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we
not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $2.00 RANGE
AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.*

I think BP, Shell, Sanoco, Pilot, Speedway are the big guys,

Sheetz is a semilocal company only in a few states but they may still buy from the big oil companies

I only buy gas at the local Citgo for the most part. Yeah, like the worst company. Haha, Sheetz is the other direction that I never go. And I'm sick of people complaining about gas prices, especially when they own an SUV or smoke 5 packs a day. Then there are a people who drive trucks daily and don't use them for work...which trucks are for. Yesterday, someone was looking at a new GMC truck at work and the one guy asked what the gas mileage was, "18 MPG, that means it gets like 14." It's a huge truck, what can you expect, idiots.

Why can't I complain, gas goes up minimum wage goes up as well it costs fucking 1.50 for a 20oz pepsi when you can buy a 2l for a dollar???

Big business is up for ripping us a new one and im sick of it.

They wonder why the dollar is down 25% and were going into a recession.

Never said YOU couldn't complain. But others have no right to. Everyone knows that gas prices will never go down, so maybe they should think about that before buying an SUV? Yes, wages are not going up while the cost of living is. I think it would be honestly impossible to live on minimum wage. It sucks. Manufacturing is moving overseas. It is a free market. Of course we have Republicans who only care about big business. They really don't care about us. "Let's give tax breaks to businesses and HOPE that they pay their workers a fair amount" It is this trust that the business world will do what is right that is the trouble. Just recently Bill Gates was in court testifying that he needs more programmers from India on special visas. Because he can pay them less and he made it sound like there was NO talent here. Meanwhile these people do the same work...just cheaper. It made me sick to watch. He will probably get what he wants too, because everyone there was like "OMFG Bill Gates, we love you." The middle class is really who will feel the pain here. I'm wondering if these stimulus checks will help at all. I think most people will put it towards their debt. They won't want to go out and use their gas (especially now) and spend it. I think it will fail but whatever I'll take some money.

Gas prices have been stupid since '05. Every year they're tried the "don't buy gas for a day" bit and guess what? It never works. Because you would either have to buy gas a day or two before or a day or two after anyway, which cancels that out. Gas prices are stuck up in the heavens and will only go higer before they go lower. Deal with it...

I remember when gas was under $1/gallon.

I can't wait for the gas to change back to summer blend either, my DD doesn't exactly like the winter stuff when driven hard.

(Should I brag and talk about the 32-33mpg freeway I get in my DSM, which is better than my Honda? LOL)

Yeah, I remember those days even though I wasn't driving yet. If gas was that price now I'd never stop driving! There is an old gas station by where I live and it still has some insanely low price from the early 90s and it is depressing to drive by.

My T/A got about 30-32 before I tore into it, and that with me always putting it "through its paces". No idea what it'll get this summer... But it's better than what my daily gets, which is about 22-23.. :?

My Miata gets like 24-26 mpg constantly around town. Suck for such a small car, but I accelerate as fast as I can from pretty much every stop. Takes premium though. When I brought it home from Kentucky (engine wasn't broke in) I got like 35 mpg. Need to make a long trip soon and see what I get. My Subaru usually got like low 20s, but it is leaking gas now...so it's like 15 mpg or something sickening.

My beater flat 4 gets about 20mpg, but it see's punishment almost constantly. You know the gear ratios fucking blow on it as well. Freeway cruising at 80mph places me at like 3600 or 3700, guzzle guzzle.

Dave or ACV what does your 5 speed place you at?

I shall see how my 240's gas mileage will be here shortly... HA

I'm at 3000rpm at 65. I hate my ratios for cruising, but for the 1/4 it isn't bad.

eh that sucks, I might be swapping in a 3.65 rear end this year to lower my cruising speed even more. I'd like to be doing 75-80 in 5th @ 2500rpms.

your ratios sound like my wagons. I can do 52 in 2nd WHOA!!!

I was thinking about putting in a 10% taller 5th gear, but that won't be until I have it apart again... which will hopefully be a long time from now.
