The SVO R hoods are alredy open like that. Kinda cool but sucks if you drive in the rain and you like a spotless engine.

you actually have to request when you purchase the hood that they cut it out, or all the of the standard ones have it closed. at least from the place i bought it. it does suck in the rain, im going to make a plastic plug to put in there for when im not racing and just driving around.

i thought you were gonna be running low 9's all motor in your new shit next year?

yeah you need to cage that thing fo sho. unless you turn to the black car for racing and put the '70 back on the street.

just an update, i sprayed this thing a few times on saturday. it pulls so hard on the 75 shot i almost shit myself. i think im gonna try that out first at the track, before i step up to the 125 shot. shit if i can run what i want on the 75 this thing probably wont even see the 125 jets. im really really REEEEEALLY interested to see what this thing will run on the 75 shot, i mean it straight up PULLS. i should be able to CRUSH that 115.8 mph trap speed, i just dont know if it will be enough to get into the 10s or not. if it doesnt fucking rain on friday (which its supposed to) like last week i might actually find out.

ur best pass was 11.50s on motor? 75 shot should do it, or get u damn close. with the 125 shot, i'd worry about the durability of that stock block ;)

i'm assuming u have arps and a girdle on the caps? Them bitches are known to split right down the middle

yeah i went 11.58 all motor and it should be way colder this friday (or next) than it was when i ran, so i would look to go lower 11.5x's anyway (possibly better). i would think a 75 shot would put me in the 11.1x's or 11.0x's, but the way this thing pulls i would not be surprised if it went well below that. i know nitrous hits hard, but this thing makes my eyes bug out of my head. i ran a 125 shot on my stock longblock for a long ass time, went 12.5x's @ 108.xx all day. its probably just in my head, but this 75 feels like more than the 125 gave me before. my guess is that i wont even need to go to the 125 shot.

i have ARP main bolts, no girdle. the girdle doesnt add any strength to the block where it splits, it just helps hold it together when it does. but my intake manifold, bell housing, timing cover, and oil pan all do that already. i did alot of research and talked to my machinist about those girdles, and they help where the stock roller blocks dont need help.

most of the people who split those blocks do it with too much timing. ive seen people split them making less than what i make now. i talked to a few forced induction engine builders about boost/nitrous on these blocks, and people are putting 550+ to the wheels on single turbo set ups with these blocks. they are just taking the necessary steps to avoid detonation. really its all in the tune. and the rpm range you operate in. the vibrations from twisting really high rpms can hurt these blocks even at lower hp levels. i shift my shit at like 5800-6000k, so im avoiding some of the trouble right there.

on the other hand, some of them just split. proper tune, proper everything and they just break. nothing you can do about that, so i cant worry about it. im just gonna run a safe ass tune, and hopefully a 10.99 or better!

thats what i was getting at, all blocks aren't created equal. anything 450+ has potential of failing honestly... just make sure if its gonna come apart u can salvage everything inside ;)

did some number crunching, ur probably gonna need that 125 actually, the 75 should put u around 11.1x @ 120-121 (assuming ur car weighs about 3200 with u in it) which should be pretty close. a super cool low humidity day could prove me wrong tho!
