Tony's Hatch Project

Alright figured i'd share some of this with you guys, it's gonna be a lot of work but i'm gonna be building my self a new daily driver. Reason being, i wanted a hatchback instead of my current coupe daily. That & there was no way i was gonna boost the d15b7 motor that was in my coupe so i looked around and got ahold of jakes old coupe with a d16z6 motor in it & tracked down a hatchback shell that was in pretty good shape body wise & i'm gonna be putting these things together.

Here's the wrecked up coupe. More suspension damage and tweaked body than anything, but has a good motor in it.

Image

Image

The Hatchback shell is decent body wise but is going to take a lot of work because someone cut the main harness all up. I'll be transfering pretty much everything to the hatch.

- has steering rack but not installed, it was in the back
- main harness is fawked
- missing a fender & rear bumper ( i'll pull the fender from the coupe, i ordered the rear bumper already)
- no axles
- no interior other than back half
- no headlights
- tails were in a box
- ect.

you'll get more details as the project progresses.

Image

cable is fubared for the glass in the rear, so it won't latch yet.

I spent today getting the garage ready to do the job, the rhino is back on the ground & ready to rip, and the the left bay is ready so the work will begin tomarrow after it warms up out there.

Hahaha Boerio's hatch! I'm really good friends with him. Built my eclipse in his garage. Holy shit! I've helped him do odds and ends thing to that hatch for the past 6 years. He slaved over the body work on that thing forever... glad someone got it that will put it to good use.

Did you happen to grab any other parts off him? He basically has a whole B series engine lying around, axles, radiator, tons of shit.

That hatch was in a lake, so I hope you won't be using a lot of the wiring. I think that is why Joey abandoned that thing.

Yah, he just gave up because it was a wiring nightmare. We would troubleshoot that thing for hours.

yea, i'm putting a main harness in it, so it's not that big of a deal.

anyone know how it ended up in a lake?

Well, the lake story isn't a fact. Just kinda a mosty likely story that explained why the car was so fucked up. I believe he bought the car off ebay from a seller in New York. The car was stolen and recovered in pretty poor condition.

Today's work consisted of stripping the shit out of the coupe. I'd like to say that jake is a lucky guy, for all the shit that i found in that thing that was loose that could have caused death, i'm amazed that he's alive! We worked on this thing pretty much all day, we got all the interior out, the dash & all the wiring, including the main harness. Pulled the e-brake assembly, pulled shiftlinkage & motor, headlights bumper, fenders, ect. Pulled power mirriors & door harness's. There not really much left to this thing anymore!

The main harness, yes, i actually know where all those plugs go! :)

Misc parts.

more to come. not sure how much time i'll have this week to work on this thing but more updates will come as i get the work done.
