a xbox owners worst nightmare

Postby drewboi » Mon Mar 09, 2009 6:18 pm

some of you know that i got the red light on my xbox.. luckily i know my xbox's like tony knows his civics...

i got it functioning but.. not 100% yet.. im still working on making the part needed to fix it , i should have them made by tonight.
if this is sucessfull and i dot get these random red lights anymore then im going to try to make a few bucks fixing peoples broken xboxes. so if you know anyone with a red ring xbox that Microsoft wont take back or that is past its warranty let me know. i can probably help them out...

oh.. and.. iv been considering water cooling this, adding some fancy lighting,w/e (xbox rice) .. i was going to fiberglass a section onto the left for a reservoir for the cooling liquid and a radiator... yay/nay?

heres some pix of my rig... probably the ghettoist rig out there

i ran a fan from my pc over to my xbox to help with the cooling for now..

as it sits now.. till i get the key parts for the fix... its on a laptop cooler..lol ( this last pic was taken with my new camera that is obviously better than my parents after comparing the pics)

i dont know much about that stuff, but I think I remember reading somewhere that water cooling can lower the temps 15-20 degrees.

i know my friend had the red ring on his and he took it apart and bolted the board down and resoldered everything and it fixed his problem.

what happens is when the board gets real hot it warps and causes the wires to come unsoldered. if you bolt the board down it wont warp.
