That's my brother's and he's already owned a 99 Z28, ntm that cobra would waste your current GM ;)

He's like me and misses the t-tops/driving position. I don't think our lights were ever 'off'

Look harder; mines on there too

i know it would beat me. just saying that imo gm is a better platform to start with.

if you already have had an f-body....especialy a ls1.....why would/did you both go to a mustang :?:

He always wanted an sn95, his z28 had a few issues like the window motors and the fiberglass it mounts to being all fucked up, some so-so bodywork on the 1/4 and the car had the usual ls1 piston slap. Couldve used a good clutch. Was overall a little rough around the edges. Fun car though and responded very well to mods.

I told him he would prolly regret it, but the cobra is a VERY clean car. The stangs are infinately easier to work on, and if theres a problem you can fix it easily and usually on the cheap. I can't fault him for the t-tops and how it drives though as I dislike mine for the same...its like driving a lowered sedan and not a sports car.

For what he has in it, I thought the car ran pretty damn good using alot of stock parts. That said though, the GM cars pick up ALOT more power for the mods. You just can't get it done on no cubes unless you twist it to the moon n/a.

From a go-fast standpoint I think the LS1 makes better bolt on cars, but gets pretty $$$ once you have to build the engine or even buy a power adder as they cost alot more. Once you add some boost to the stang (as long as its healthy unlike mine) they get REAL nasty. The block becomes a limiting factor then. I personally feel the stang is a better platform to drag with even though it is harder to make power at first.

For a street car I feel the f-body is a much more fun platform with the t-tops, the better suspension layout for handling, the factory brakes (vs. a GT ) the 6spd, milage, and bolt on capability. I also think they look sexy as shit done right. I do hate to work on them though, and when something is wrong, its a whore to troubleshoot vs the stangs with the more old school setup to them (obviously 5.0s only here).

I purchased my T/A like 2yrs after owning my stang and I kinda wish that's where I had started from. The grass is always greener, but I enjoyed driving my T/A alot more everyday. I also love open air and quite frankly I've wanted a black WS6 car since I was in 8th grade, and when the ls1 style came out I knew I HAD to have one. I still don't know why I don't as Ive pissed away quite a bit of $ on my car. I actually sold my LT1 because it kinda sucked compared to the refinement of my brothers ls1, and I wasnt driving my mustang.

I really want to go get the car I've always wanted, be it slower or not. I also might skip it and go to a C5 but money is getting tight currently with the bills/work/need a real home situation. I am a vette freak first and foremost and spent much my youth drooling over my dad's 1969 stingray....which he sold like a month ago

I 'like' mustangs. Never was dead set on them. Love a clean foxbody. But I can appreciate them and I'm glad I've tried them as it's no fun to limit yourself. If going fast was my only concern, I'd honestly build another DSM. Period. Those go the fastest for the cheapest hands fucking down all day. Not nearly as nice of a car though as the others for refinement.

I'm actually thinking of selling it outright regardless and just using the money to pay off school loans.

Monthly payments suck

LSX's make everything better, I am just not a fan of the car that they come in. Making power on 4 cylinders sucks.
2nd gear: 1000rpm - 80ft-lb tq, 2000rpm - 95ft-lb tq, 3000rpm - 100ft-lb tq, 5000rpm - 280ft-lbs tq OMGZORZ brunout!

Waiting for a turbo to build boost from down low is no fun. Having to rev to 5000rpm to build enough torque break the tires loose is homosexual.
A peaky turbo nonlinear powerband is unpredictable and hard to get used to. Not for me.

When Scott had the LS1 back in the day I was in fucking awe how awesome that thing felt. I think that mostly stock (intake/exhaust/timing?) on 12 ton wheels went mid 13's on a slipping clutch? TONS of power at 2000rpm though a 6 speed cruizing on the highway. Amazing. I can only imagine what it would do in a chassis at is almost 1000lbs lighter such as mine. I ran a cammed 6.0 GTO at the track...fucker went 12.3@110+mph IIRC. And that thing is a Oprah Winfrey pig of a chassis!

When I finish school and teach myself how to fabricate I recon I'll build a 240sx, or an FC RX-7 with a lightly boosted LS swap. It's just a better way to make power.

He was like 12.1 /11.9 at 114-116. That was a cam only car with a full exhaust and a fast 90/90 intake on drag radials. Fucking loved that thing!

(I talked to him for a few :D )

I feel like I need to go for a ride in a balls out fast N/A v8 (mid teens low 20's car). I've yet to experience one, and the v8's I've ridden in just quite haven't done it for me. My cousins stand was the fastest I've been in to date at a high ~ 108-110 car when it was running, the power delivery just sucked to me, it was so linear, it just wasn't the same w/o lag it felt. Instead of just an explosion of power, it was just a constant build.

Mark, have you considered adding any more timing on the bottom end? I dont know what your maps look like, but here is a graph of my old stock turbo 25. You can see the torque curve is pretty good, and its making about the same power as yours with the ruffly the same displacement.

I mean I was at 225 ft lbs by 2700-2800 RPMS. It would spin from 3K - redline in first. Then through 2nd on most pavement. (tires were like 350-360 treadware a little bit hard)

No, I've never put it on a dyno before. I'm just exaggerating my butt dyno readings.

cory i have a few people that'll take u for a ride if u want. low 10sec cars, bunch of my dads friends. one of them is goin to the track tomorrow if it stays nice. he'd gladly take ya

i got to drive a few of them. honestly i like the turbo feel better.... even though i've never even driven anything 'fast' that was turbo

its a completely different powerband... u cant really compare the two.

there is really no substitution for big block torque though...
