I do not advise taking pictures when you are driving on snow covered highways!

Oh sorry! Forgot! You have a Subaru.... I keep forgetting that not everyone has an awesome DSM transmission that LOVES 5k launches.

Buy an STI tranny. Worth every penny.

How much did Adam end up paying for a new one?

ratios aren't gonna vary much from 5spd to 6spd... ur gonna be like .2-.3 higher on the 5spd at most. By the time u hit 3rd ur down to like a .05 difference, possibly less.

That all depends on the manufacturer of the transmission, the engines redline its designed for and so forth.... I'd take a 6 speed any day as long as the ratios are gear for top end. Such as the t-56's and Supra Getrags.

Close ratio 6 speed is just too much shifting for speed. Now granted this does differ with the rear end at hand as well...

One thing I did notice with the STI is since the gears are so short and torquey there is a huge sensation of being pressed into the seat more than other cars I have been in, when in reality the car really isn't accelerating at the rate you might think.
