Take back the keys!

I just got back from Shep's house and he told me that my housing is basically junk. The guy I bought it from drilled out a alignment dowel to fit a MUCH larger bolt in the hole after stripping or breaking off the stock bolt. So... the best thing would be to get a new bell housing. Next best thing would be to try to fix the hole by welding, measuring VERY accurately, and then drilling a new hold for the dowel. If anyone knows any one w/ a junk 2g trans, PLEASE let me know. This was very devastating news after some already not so good news (namely that I need to rebuild the trans). Thanks in advance!

BTW: I really thought Shep would have a larger facility, but it was just a huge garage next to his house w/ no sign, cuz he "...doesn't want people to know where he is..", haha.

Yeah, it's a real hard place to find. I drove past it twice till I spotted a conquest and thought it might be it. I personally enjoyed the 20 trans just sitting in a hallway with no ones names on them, and the fact that I couldve just walked away with one quite easily. That and the proverbial sweatshop in the back with like 30 dissasembled trans just piled up with all the kids working....heh whatever gets the job done I guess.

Trans shifted great from them though, and he was pleasant to talk to (wasn't a dick to me at all, and we BSed for like 20 min). I hate the idea of nutswinging and I even told him that I'm sure you get alot of the 'OMG ITS SHEPARD!!!!111!' crap, but that its nice to meet him and that it's cool that he's brought good things to the table in the DSM world.

That being said I still hate DSMs and I got to drive my mom's car to work today because I'm stupid enough to rely on one as a daily. Funk that.

Thats why my daily's a subie.

I'd check local yards and DSM classifieds for the housing. Your most likely going to have to buy an entire transmission. I'm surprised Shep didn't have a spare he could have sold to you.

Perhaps I'm just turning into a pussy...or the fact that I can't really miss work because the car is broke.

Makes for a great weekend racecar...but I've already one of those.

I want regular gas, good milage, and power steering....and not dumb issues affiliated with a 17yr old car...fuck. That IS old.

I guess 119k is low milage then for me

I called Feezles and A-1, they have nothing. I really didn't wanna have to buy a whole new trans cuz I spent an ASSLOAD on this one, though Shep said it wasn't too bad of a price. I posted a WTB add on DSMTuners and one guy messaged me and said $50 for the good bell housing, shipped. I asked him for the intermediate gear assembly and front diff as well, and am waiting for a reply...
