Now from a dig, it will be murder. If there was a driver in the z06 it would be a good race then too, however I doubt either one of them will be able to launch it half as good as you could ur stang on the street.

i agree with everything you said, except for it being close down low on the 125 shot. et street radials just wouldnt allow it to be close at all down low, on or off the bottle. and 127 mph near sea level seems about right, i think around this area it would be lower 120's. my car trapped at 124 with a 1.51 60', if i had a 1.8 or 1.9 like that vette probably pulled, i think my trap would have been substantially higher. not to mention my clutch was slipping for most of that pass, if you watch the youtube video its really easy to hear it. i cant really speculate how much id pick up from a clutch that put all the power i was making to the tires for the entire pass. that will just have to be found out after i get a new clutch.

Lol, I don't think I'd compare shit to ANYTHING from Ranger. That dude set records in like EVERY year of z06 for fastest stock car.

Most reviews put that car around 123 trap at a mid 11. The fact that I seriously doubt whomever drives it is going to get it to come out hard at all, I would see Bill getting the dig on the 75 shot and being a damn good drivers's race from an 80 roll or so, but since the person driving can barely drive stick lol. However on the 125 shot it's going to be fucking game OVER on both accounts for the z06

wow that is so stupid. yeah brett my car has "everything done to it" and my 12,000 dollar car can just barely beat a 75,000 dollar corvette. ohh man that sucks. wait... no thats awesome! like i said before when andy first started saying i run ETs like a c6 z06 but im not as fast as one, i really dont care. EVERYONE on this board knows that you guys are never going to race me with that car, for a number of reasons. but could you at least keep the retarded things you say to a minimum.

ummm my car was broke twice once during the winter but all it was was a belt and as for movies 8 i wasnt in driving condition first off second off the only time i woulda raced you is if it wasnt planned i tried calling you everytime i saw you drive down my street or wherever else we both know i woulda won anyway shit this summer ill have something new for you... and your shit talking just makes you look dumb so stop acting like your hot shit and stfu!

under 50k but sure. and i said almost everything. theres always more you can do but you pretty much have a full setup. what i was trying to get at was most if not all of your drivetrain is aftermarket.

Actually, Bills car has a stock block, a factory t-5, although it's been mildy gone through, its virtually the same as any 94-95 t-5 transmission, the car has a stock k member, stock control arms, an 8.8 on the stock carrier with only an axle upgrade; and it's still only 1 more cubic inch than a factory LS1. Take out the cage (which is more dead weight than needed at his level) and that car has a mild stroker with a few extra bolts. That car is hardly what would be considered 'ALL OUT' in any fashion. 120mph traps are bottom of the barrel when you get into 'serious' mustangs. That's a solid street car with a bottle.

You want to get into it with a REAL serious mustang and your going to need to bottle that thin piston walled zo6 and PRAY. As much as I would LOVE and mean LOVE to own a c6 z06; there are good reasons why that engine didn't find it's way into the zr1. I don't see why you get so bent out of shape on it losing; the car was never a drag car or mean to be. There are handfuls of everything that are faster.

Also YES, that was a 70k+ car when it came out. No need to sugar coat it.

Also, I got the catch can and shit on my car now; so anytime this week if you want to do this Andy, I should be good to go. So long as its dry and I can get free. Wednesday would prolly be best depending on the weather.

I think the point he was trying to make was that if you know where to look one can be had for mid to high 30's. The LS-series engines have proven themselves to be extremely long lasting, I wouldn't be afraid of a high milage Z06.

However, you do bring up a good point, the one I was trying to make originally. The Z06 is not made for drag racing. You can hang with it all you want, but 99.9% of cars are going to run out of gear, which is the same as running out of power. Even besides that, what about reliability? Hell, it even comes with a warranty! Don't even get me started on handling.. I've never been in a car that corners this well.. but I also have never been in a car that rides so shitty.

The 427 cylinder walls are thin, yes, but they very rarely prove to be a problem. Occasionally yeah, some moron will spray the fuck out of his Z06 (if you own a Z06 and spray you deserve what you get) and crack the block, but you really don't need a power adder to make these cars really powerful. LPE offers a 606 OR 660 HP package , NA, for $6000 and $8000 each, installed with a warranty. IIRC even Katech is offering a ~10k H/C 750 HP package. LPE even managed 1200 HP out of a stock block using twin turbos.. pretty impressive.

Well something tells me no one paid mid 30s for the one in your driveway.
The ls7 has about zero things common with the typical genIII smallblock other than the general idea behind the blueprints. Yes, they can be reliable; but I've yet to see a 100k+ mile z06; not that I doubt it to run but you get the idea. My brothers LS1 got piston slap like all the others. Yours prolly will too. They still run but they consume oil like crazy. Get those cats off of yours...you might see some blue smoke down the road.

Running out of gear is NOT running out of power..that alone is laughable; 8k packages eh? What a deal. If you read deeper and should know anyhow, the big HP twin turbo LPE cars don't even use an LS7 block BECAUSE IT WILL COME APART. They are 427 strokers...that's old news. You could prolly spray those though lol....even if you feel it's evil :twisted:

Tommorow might work idk. If its dry and I'm able. You're the point prover here; so if you feel you need to run it you might need to rearrange your schedule. Mine will be out till we see salt. Luck with your kit.

For 8k I'd say a 155 HP increase package installed tuned and with a warranty is a great deal. Especially considering it includes a bunch of other stuff, shit the catback alone costs $2k+. As for piston slap, yeah it happens with some (mostly early) LS1. Mine nor anyone I know with an LS1 personally has piston slap or a car that burns oil. I swear everyone in my class last year loved to bring up piston slap and oil burning.. Nobody I know is suffering from either of those with an LS1. I DID see a 98 Trans Am on LS1Tech the other day with 40k miles and piston slap when cold.. the guy wanted something like 5k for it because he thought it was blown up :lol:

How do you figure running out of gear is different then running out of power? A Z06 has 3.42 gears and still manages 198 MPH, I think the ZR1 has the same gears and manages 205. Jasons car has 3.73 and tops at like 120.. the statement makes sense to me?

I have no point to prove. If we cant do it this week, not really worried about it.

Oh and FWIW, I don't think spray is evil, but IMO if you can afford an expensive car you can afford to do things the right way. Just remember: Cheap, Reliable, Fast. Pick any two.
