monday night update:

tonight i pulled the heater core, blower motor & duct work so that i could get to the firewall and pull the remainder of the main harness.

once all that was done, i installed the main harness from the coupe:

Image

after i pulled all the wires through the firewall and ran everything where it had to go, i installed the dash.

Image

durring tonights's adventures i noticed something that i'd classify as EXTREAMLY STUPID! IDK why the hell someone would do this but they used a hole saw to drill out the spots where the seats are supposed to mount to.. Now i'm gonna have to fix that shit! Dammit!

Image

Also noticed that someone cut the damn bracket from the cradle that is supposed to hold the passenger side of the stearing rack.. now your thinkin ohh well he has the donor car.. just change the cradle.. hell no!! theres now way i'm puttin that much time into that when i know one of those bolts is gonna give me the finger! I'm probably just gonna fab my own bracket & box it in. I'm sure i'll post pix when i get to this!

There are always un-forseen issues that will arrise when working with cars.. it's just the way it goes!

Car had aftermarket seats and custom brackets in. I don't remember if Joe and I cut that out or not. Hm.

Lookin good man!

I'm still trying to find something on this laser I don't have to fix or replace. So far, I'm nearly as deep in as you haha. The wonderful gifts of wrongness just make the setbacks that much more fun  Like my totally wrong steering rack bushings, from the wrong model, installed upsidedown....using the wrong brackets. Oh the fun. :suicide:

ohh i feel ya man. Sometimes idk what gets me more, the amount of work thats involed in proejects like this. Or the stupidity that i find laying underneith the mess. I understand that some people just arn't very knowlageable or think outside the box as to the best way to do some things but some of the ideas are just hard for me to grasp what they were thinking. blah blah.. just ranting people..

Good news is, i'm getting a natural gas furnace for my man cave, no more kero to keep me warm while i'm workin out there! It might be comming tonight, i'm pretty excited about that!

Tony, heads up, the radiator mounts were cut and rewelded to fit an integra radiator. So might wanna check that out before you go dropping the engine in.

Tuesday's nightly update:

ok well i started off tonight by putting in the steering rack to eye up the the stabilizing mount that im gonna build. Looks like i've got plenty of room to work in there so i'm gonna go ahead and move on, i'll build the mount around the rack later.

from there i moved on to putting in the steering column and wheel, it was a slight pain hold it up and bolting it by my self but, i got it done.

Image

Then i decided it was time to fix the cables and install the lever's so that i can pop the hatch and fuel door.

Image

Hatch poper:
Image

The other cables went well so i figured i'd do the last cable and install a hood latch and hook that up.

Image

The mirrors were laying in my way so i figured i'd put those on and wire them up later, they are power mirrors and i've already transfered that part of the harness so i may as well utilize them.

Image

Being that the dash is comming along, i went for the gauge cluster.. when i saw the discusing rice below the plastic cover.. i just couldn't take it.. heres the before/after

With Rice:
Image

Without Rice:
Image

ohh & speaking of the interior peices & rice.. i just can't deal with this.. it's gonna probly have to be trashed and i'll visit the local salvage yard.
Image

Here was the end result of the nigth..
Image

I was pretty pleased, i think i got alot done tonight & hope that tomarrow is nearly as productive.

hey guys, thanks for the comments, they really help me keep going. I'm definatly bustin my ass tryin to get everything done. I really haven't ran into any major problems yet "knock on wood" i mean yea i'm gonna a little fab time in it for the stupid mistakes that people left behind but all in all i think it's going pretty good.

tonight i'm gonna try & fab that steering rack bracket & and then move on to the lines & see how much of the engine bay wiring i can get accomplished. Once most of the peices are all back on and in the car, i'll have a little more space. Need space to paint. I won't be doing all the trim work & crap until the car is sprayed tho. No point in doing things twice.

Wednesday nights update:

alright guys, i got some more work done tonight. got a late start coz i was starvin when i got home from work so i had to go find some food. Still got a lot done tho.

Started off by making that steering rack mount.. had to run to handy man & get some bolts & crap. I had the metal layin around. It's all boxed in & what not. not a very good pic but here ya go.

Image

After that was done, i started looking over all the engine components & laughed pretty hard when i saw this. IDK why this was fixed like this but it was.. i will call him frank!

Image

After giving everything a once over and seeing that there wasn't anything else holding me back in the engine bay, i got to business. Tonight's ending looked like this.

Image

It's almost there, a little more work and i'll be able to fire it up.

No No No, you're supposed to defeat the purpose of the winter beater and sand paint and clear everything you can get your hands on in the bay and engine.....that way you can take 10x as long to have the same running results AND you can drive your efforts in the salt! Don't forget to polish stuff! :whipit:

Hahaha, looks good man! Way to get a job done!

lol.. ohh don't you worry, it's gettin painted! I'll be loading the abrasive areas with additional clear for protection! As far as the engine goes, it was cleaned with degreaser and rinsed off. It will get a good pressure washing later but other than that.. it's a daily, it's gonna get dirty. :)

I hooked everything up on the passenger side of the engine bay & started the driver side. Still more to go on the drivrs side, once thats done, i still need to pull the window regulators & crap from the donor so that i can have power windows in this thing. Once everything is functional, i'll begin the sanding process and get it ready to paint. My neighbors are gonna think i'm really nuts when i take this thing for a test drive looking as it does right now! lol

shitty vid but you guys get the idea.

onwords and upwords.

Image

It was a little bit of a pain to get this thing to start. Had no fuel due to clogged fuel line. Had no spark due to cut dizzy wire. plugs were fouled ..

anywasy.. it runs.. time to get it all tidy'd up so that it's movable before i get ready for paint.

yea definatly.. i only had it running for about 30sec. i only had oil in it. no coolant or anything. Just wanted to get it goin.

I should have all the fluids and axles and what not in tonight so that i can drop it and take it for a test drive.
