Wow, our cars get such a bad image these days. My parents would be proud to know that I am in safe hands of my car because there is no 5 point harness and fire extinguisher present. He was doing 50mph when he hit the pole? That's obviously a tale tell sign that he was racing because I know its outrageous to do over 50.. I got written up for wreckless driving this summer because I was doing 65 in a 50, but my buddy was behind me and apparently according to the cop I was trying to "outrun him" and was "street racing" just because of the way our cars look and sound. Sorry my car has a "turbo muffer" lol

That sucks man, I'd have fought that in court. It discuss me ignorant some people are about our cars, and they really don't understand. If an older professor... my boss or just the older generation hears me talking to someone about my car. They ask "what is it" I tell them just 89 Nissan, they are like oh one of those little ricer burner deals, instantly just bash it, AND THEY HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE WHAT IT IS.

People assume to much, I think a lot of it does have to do with the F&F movies, also these idiot kids with pep-girls rice strapped all over their car. It just creates an over all bad imagine for the people who are serious about their import/compact.

Just like in that article, his front tires were new, his rears were bald. Cop: "he must have been involved in that drifting stuff" LIKE WTF? He could have been doing a burnout, breaking traction, or maybe his fronts wore faster than his rears so he replaced them early..... please.....

When you tell someone older you simply have an '89 Nissan, they're automatically going to assume it's something like a Sentra or Pulsar NX. :D Even if you came out and told them it was a 240, they're either a) not know what it is or b) know what it is and not think anything of it anyway because those were really slow stock. No offense. But when you say you have a Trans Am, Corvette, Viper etc, they automatically know what it is.

That article was stupid, but tragic. :(

I see what you are saying but that wasn't the point. They don't even ask what it is, they just jump straight to conclusions. Thats what gets to me. Especially since I was talking about machining the block, bore sizes and cam profiles, when the past few days someone has butted in asking what car.... its not like the conversion was, "I cant wait to pick up my new wing"...

Oh I was sure to post on their forum for that article lol. Some peoples responses are retarded, some are HILARIOUS.

Is that article local to us?

The names and places sound familiar.

That whole article is written off of one opinion....I mean, its an MR2, he was prolly driving a little to spirited by himself, on bald tires and it came around.

No race, no drorifto....just a wreck.

Hope they get better.

There were idiot parents in there as well who don't know anything, also people just saying retarded shit to piss the parents off lol.

The article says the driver was from Allentown. Allentown is near Philly.

Oh, my dad would be the type to buy me a 5-point harness and a fire extinguisher.
