ford had the N2O focus with a 75 shot, they sold it with the kit not hooked up, but once you did it voided your warrenty. so im guessin that there is a good reason y they didnt sell many of those. personally i think a 50 shot on an unbuilt n/a motor is still kinda "iffy." i would only get nitrous to spray into the intercooler if i had a turbo that is. but thats just my opinion

Thats just dumb. It takes like 5 minutes to at least poke a hole in the intake pipe and shove a nozzle in.

back from the dead...

most motors can take a 50 shot with no problem.
I run a 50 on my 89 whp scion xa... and it's going on 90k.
motor mounts on the other hand...

If a bolt on turbo can add close to 200 whp then i cna't see why a 75 shot will kill it.

set your car up properly and you shouldn't have problems.

I would recommend upgrading your clutch for any hi power adders, retard timing, and 1 step colder plugs for every 50 hp of the squeeze or any boost at that matter...
spray above 3500... lower rpms are possible if you know that your fuel pressure is up, varies on cars...
A bottle warm is a nice thing to have, as a n20 guage...

there are far more turns in philly then straights...
the gas is for *hits and giggles.

I'm sure dave can set you up properly with a decent n20 setup.

let clear a couple things up in this thread.

Throttle Switch:
it was mentioned that you need a full throttle switch or to buy one.. well the zex kit comes with it built into the computer box, you just hook up the tps wire.

Plugs:
Colder plugs are pretty much a requirement for nitrous, don't cry about this, they are like a 10 doller or less upgrade!

Tuning:
Is it required, no.
Do you want your motor to last, yes
Should you tune it, yes, you will make things safe, and pull more power from the kit. Making your money well spent.

Personal Experience:
For one season i ran a zex kit on my origional d16 with a 75 shot. I had NO internal work done. I adjusted the timing (distributor) 2 degrees as per the zex instructions. I upgraded to irridium plugs, i ran premium fuel, and I BLEW THROUGH 5 BOTTLES (bout 250 bux when you figure almost 50 a fill) that summer. Motor was perfectly fine, speeding ticket count was at record high, and never had any problems other than goin through a couple sets of plugs due wrong heat range & cold plugs. No biggie.

That motor lived a long life after that experience. It went through two other owners that i know of (lost track of it after that) after i upgraded. That motor was in great shape.

I personally was sick of filling the bottle, but i liked to have it avaliable. So i upgraded to a turbo setup and retained my nitrous setup. It's still in the car today and eventually it will be used again. I haven't had a need for it because i haven't maxed out a turbo yet but one day i'll probably spray the intercooler with it and inject on top end a little for fun.

ohh & someone needs to get off the meth kick. it's not the be all and end all to the performance world. It should be thought of as an after through to sqeeze more power from an over extended FI setup.

AGREED! Inexperienced kids see meth kits on highly modified cars and they think 'omg meth is so good'!

Basically, the only point in using it is when you're totally maxed out on boost per octane rating. You add meth just to squeeze out a few more psi. (meth cools air temps creating denser air allowing the fuel to be compressed further without creating predetination, it helps to stabilize/slow combustion. AKA: allows you to run more timing and higher psi on the same setup that was maxed out previously)

you gotta have one badass setup before even thinking you need meth
