Wow. It's funny, because people usually throw a hissy fit about dsm's without the top timing cover. You aren't running either! You need to keep that belt away from the snow and rain. And if a rock gets in there and throws it off timing, you're gonna shoot yourself. Please get one!

I can't stand one without a cover myself...and the way these seem to collect garbage you'd be insane to not run a lower. That's some racecar only shit. :x

:(

Also, watch your positive battery terminal and that strut tower bar. I had that section of the bar wrapped in rubber. There's horror stories of dsm's catching fire from those.

I didnt put any covers on, but me and my dad fabricated a sheet metal "Rock Shield" that surruonds the bottom of my motor, nothings getting in there

The positive one on mine is like 6 inches away from the bar, and i have a battery holddown on there and i think i can hang on the thing and it aint movin

Hmm havent updated in a few days, tonight i installed my wideband. Very easy to do by the way. Rechecked my timing, still perfect. Gotta figure out a couple issues still, i have a random misfire and i dont know what the deal is there. Battery is completly dead its on the charger so im going to fire it up again with a fully charged battery tomarrow and see what we got going on

from the initial start-up like saturday or whatever. thats what led to me recheck my timing.

Check your coils.....they're usually good for causing a slight cough. Mine seemed to do that randomly at idle every so often; but then again idk what yours sounds like compared to my minute stumble.

mine doesnt want to idle and is a hard start, i give it a little gas and it starts breaking up ungodly bad.

By "recheck your timing", you mean you hooked up a timing light and set it, right?

Plugs won't matter so much at idle as under boost, unless they are hella fouled.

Good point on Nick, as you still have ignition base timing along with valvetrain timing. You will need to ground the signal to the ECM and set the CAS to 5 degrees BTDC. Anything more or less and the ECU starts acting all whacked out.
