92 DSM clutch problem... HELP!!!

I picked up this car like 4 weeks ago. Hadn't shown signs of a clutch issue until 2 nights ago. After driving around for a bit, I come to a light, I push the clutch to the floor and it doesnt dissengage. I PULL the car out of gear to stop. Now I press the clutch and it releases just enough to get back into gear and find a spot to park.

I check the resevoir and its dry, but there are no sings of a leak, atleast not brake fluid (oil is another story ) . I fill it up and it will work, but loses pressure if I hold it down for too long. Meaning, if I want to change a gear its good, but I i hold it in for like 5 seconds the clutch will start to engage on its own. Anyone know what might be happening, like I said it would be easier if I could find the leak but I havent found anything. Sound like a bad slave cylinder?

p.s. anyone want a 92 eclipse?

Part it out and give me the lower drivers side panel and the wheels :D

sounds like you have a leak somewhere, follow the hard line down to the slave cylinder on the side of the transmission, I'd bet its either rooted down there, or your rubber line to the slave is ripped (if you have one).

Well its obviously a leak. Fill it up, keep the car off and have someone press the pedal and look and listen. Look around the master cylinder on the firewall, or the slave on the tranny. Also make sure your bleeder screw isnt loose.

Sounds like a slave issue to me. Pretty common. It's not your master unless you have some wet ass (brake fluid drenched) carpet by your clutch pedal. :lol:

if it did leak on any paint be sure to wipe off ASAP! it eats paint...

I had the same problem with my dsm. Let me ask you this what happened when you refilled your master cylinder? Fill the master cylinder, get under the car and squeeze the rubber sleeve on the slave cylinder and see if you get any drop (squirts) of fluid. PM me if you have any questions or hope fully you'll find you're leak.

^ Yup exactly what he said if the rubber is filling up that might be why the leak isn't obvious. this happens all the time with DSMs i think summit carries slaves for like 15-20 bucks.

It was the slave guys, I fixed it a couple days ago. After i would pump the clutch and feel the pressure go away I got out a looked at the slave and it was dripping off of it. Got a new one at autozone for 15 bucks, bled it really good, and now she feels great. I hope this car doesnt have anymore issues until I'm atleast done with the Sentra, then she'll prob go up for sale.... :thumbsup:

do yourself this favor also.. set in your seat upside down shove your face up under the dash and look at your adjustment rod where it goes into the clutch master cylinder it is probably leaking there also (trail of fluid down the inside of the firewall) also while your at it might as well take out your pedal assembly and have it welded too.
