Went to the track on friday, only made two passes because the tree broke right when i got there and i had to wait like 2 hrs to make my first pass. i ran my car on my heavy ass cobras with street tires. the first pass i had the air pressure at 25 psi, and they hooked ok but i still spun them pretty bad and pulled a 1.88 60' and ran 12.200 at 113.7. the second pass i lowered the pressure to 15 psi and they hooked much better, pulled a 1.60 60' and went 11.80 at 114.2. normal 60' times for me on slicks are 1.55, and i think with a couple more launches and maybe a pound or two less air pressure i could get these to hook just as good as my actual slicks. pretty fucking impressive for a 17 inch tire that i drive around on all the time and works fine in the rain.

there was also a subaru forester there on 4 slicks that ran 11.50 @ 116. it was really fucking cool.

That forester is sick! I'd like to see it in person. Nice passes, Bill. I think it said in the 2nd videos description, but no nitrous, right?

idk, just not a huge fan of no exhaust. Turbo cars at least quite it, but it fucking gives me a headache to sit there and not even be able to hear my car running. Especially since a good deal of those "drag cars" arn't even impressive at all. I get harder seeing a v8 street car up there with full exhaust that's mildly loud, throwing down awesome ET's with MPH behind it.

I'm mainly just crying bc I wanted to hear that subie run, but couldn't lol.

haha well that i totally agree with. the subaru did sound amazing. i just wish quaker was more organized. its just a big cluster fuck of nobody knowing anything ever.

quakers main problem is that they are (apparently anyway i dont know the ins and outs of running a drag strip) greedy. they wish they could just be open one day a week for 2 hours so they dont have to pay shit for workers or the emt's and could still get all the money.

when they were open on wednesdays and had the "street wars" it was great. for the most part only street cars showed up, there were a few drag cars and rail cars and stuff but those guys were so annoyed by the street cars with no slicks they wouldnt bother to show up. and if they did they had to wait and got skipped and shit like the test and tuners get on fridays because it was "street car" night. it eliminated this annoying bullshit of us hatin the open header shit boxes and them hatin on street cars.

but of course quaker said there "wasnt enough business" to justify stayin open wednesdays. such bullshit some of those wednesdays were way busier than the fridays ive been to over this summer.

that time my starter went bad in the staging lanes i melted the positive terminal off of my battery becuase i couldnt even tell my car wasnt turning over since there was some open header pos next to me i couldnt even hear myself think.

im just gonna open my own drag strip....

honestly if there was another track around, Quaker would be out of biz or they would have to change. Because they are a bunch of douchebags when it comes to a lot of things: prepping the track, payouts, junior dragsters, buybacks (I personally hate these but its like extra $$$ for them), having a street car night, and ruining outside promoted events.

On a personal level the owner has been good to me for the most part, and the track spots that you buy year round are affordable, but its just such a pain in the dick trying to test and tune when they only give you two time runs and the track is shitty because they dont prep it. Then they dont have enough people to keep the cars going down the track at a good pace. There is so much shit they could do better.

I really want them to have a street car night again, ive been talking to the owner about it, but at this point its not likely. Not enough support he says, and I am extremely tentative to do business with the guy again as far as running an event out there just because of how bad business people they are.

get a petition going to get weds street car night back. i doubt it would even take much effort for u to get enough sigs to change his mind.

have you ever seen the staging lanes full of no box cars on fridays? then they tell them to move over to 9 and 10 because 7 and 8 are full. its why they put the test and tune cars on the outside of the guardrail now, so they have more lanes for the no box class because its the biggest one usually. thats how full lanes 3 and 4 used to be on wednesdays of street stick cars. they used to separate street stick from street auto (which was awesome) and they even had a sport compact class too. there were a decent amount of all the other classes, even bikes. and then the street stick class was like blown up and all the way back to the concession stand building. i think they just dont want to have it, if ALL of those cars werent enough to convince them to open on wednesdays i dont see a list of signatures doing it. so gay. and nick is 100% correct, if there were another even decent track around youngstown quaker wouldnt last one season. no fucking way. really all you need is a scoreboard and a level and youll have a track better than quaker.

another big reason about them not wanting to opening the track during the week goes back to them being greedy and not wanting to commit anymore money to anything than they have to.

Its about the employees. Most/all of their employees work normal-ish jobs during the week, and work qcr on the weekend, therefore its difficult for them to work at Quaker on say a wednesday or thursday.

I would LOVE to run the show at Quaker during the week, Ive actually talked to them about renting the track similar to what was done for other outside promoted shows that I was involved with, but the biggest obstacle (aside from them being terrible business people) was about employees. And its a shame, considering Dan/Ann do all the track prep work, you only need like 10 people to run the fucking place, and only 2 or 3 of them need any actual training/competency...

Also, if you look at every single other track in the remote area, every one has a test n tune/street car night during the week.... everyone..... Norwalk, Thompson, Pittsburgh Raceway Park, Dragway 42... shit i think even Magnolia has one...
