The 6 speed Supra crowd is so fucking close to a 7'second pass! The world record has been shifting hands every week now it seems.

SW's 6 speed Supra the same one that did 242mph in the standing mile just went 8.04@185 over the weekend! This is with a 6 speed MANUAL FACTORY TRANSMISSION. Unfucking real.

Not even that just the learning curve. Back then no one would have thought a 91mm turbo would work on a 3.x liter. BL has one of the BEST tuners in the country to back this car as well as a crew who knows WTF is up. His 60ft was off the fucking hook.

If only all cars were built this factory stout.

241.8 in the standing mile, not a top speed run. This cars top speed would be around 280-290 I'd have to calc its theoretical gearing, but I see tires as the limiting factor at this speed.

The cars driveline is stock, (the shaft might be a one piece) however stock transmission, rear end, and half shafts. Engine is a 3.4 liter stroker, I'd say theres around a 100k+ invested into this car (including its sticker).

I prefer turns myself, and would still take a proper manual. It goes in any form of racing. Obviously there are limitations such as F1 where there simply is not enough time to manually shift... I'm talking street cars here.

Werd, if I was to build a drag car though I would most certainly use an automatic(a ridiculously nice one though).

i'm keeping my car automatic, just for the simple fact that everyone has a manual and i wanna be different..

I'd say this is where you and I differ.

This car was not built as just a 1/4 mile stunner. It was built for the standing mile. Something an auto transmission would not do well in at all, especially if it wanted to be competitive in the 1/4 as well without having to change its setup.

This car literally has no physical change from its standing mile world record to its 1/4 6 speed supra record. No easy task.

An auto would simply take the challenge out of a 7 second pass, since there have been a number of auto Supras to dip into the 7's. It seems as if the majority of the people in the world of drag racing prefer the redundant and easy way out: autos and larger displacement.

I am just saying if I wanted to win I would use one. It is the best option. I respect this car and the work put into it I was just stating my opinion.

I would also not pick a Supra to win either. I respect the challenge they have brought upon themselves. Idunno maybe I just don't get drag racing.

well sure, if ur talking about flat out drag car then u'd just find the biggest cubic inch motor you could slam into your tube chassis/fiberglass car throw on the biggest blower u could find, run alcohol, throw a powerglide with a trans-brake in it hold a button floor the car let go and win. i dont really see how pushing a button and matting the throttle is challenging... LOOK AT TREE, RELEASE BUTTON, WIN.

as cory said, this car is not a drag car. this car is a 100% street legal machine taken to the max. Built for the standing mile, 1/4 is just the fun of it.
it just wouldnt be a street car if they threw a turbo 400 in it

When I went to the track for the first time like 4 years ago, I was like "this is the dumbest fucking thing ever!" and it made NO sense what so ever. But now that I am on the front lines, doing a million thing's at once when we are at the track, I think back and wonder how I thought all of it was retarded.

It's a super adrenaline rush, lots of things depend on you, and going that fast, you can't not get a thrill out of it, even if you AREN'T driving. =)
