well to say the least qcr's prep is NOT BAD! it just DOESNT FUCKING EXIST! :x mo got some vids and so did andy. so if you guys read this post em up. it was probably the most agravating thing ive done in a while. i did HORRIBLE! deffinitly need to work on launching but here we go anyway. i made six runs. here is the worst of everything all different runs. so i have to eat my words noah. my worst run was alot worse then your best. about 1.2 seconds worse.
rt: 1.662
60': 2.923
330: 6.925
1/8: 10.634
mph: 73.60
1000: 13.822
1/4: 16.723
mph: 79.95
best of everything. again not all same run.
rt: 0.992
60': 2.420
330: 6.314
1/8: 9.765
mph: 76.11
1000: 12.771
1/4: 15.247
mph: 96.59
biggest waist of 25 bucks ever. if it was 10 or 15 i wouldnt expect much but 25? and they dont even prep the track? :x  f that i probably wont be back until i have some slicks on some shit rims.

not to mention a made a fool out of myself and mo got it all on tape. did a burnout past the starting line. then when i backed up i accadently staged my rear tires. and had to back up some more. backed up too far and had to pull forward again

Dude I saw your first pass, holy shit I hadnt laughed that hard at the track in a long time. you spun your rear right tire for like 400 feet!

QCR track prep isnt that bad, i mean, its not good either. You go to another track and you will pick up two tenths almost guaranteed, but there really isnt that much of a traction issue.

I think Bill is gonna post up his videos sometime today, and I think he has one or two of your passes.

Told you your goofy ass wouldnt even break a 14

You can't just go up and dump the clutch and keep it pinned....aint gonna work too well.

What kind of tires are you running?

What rpm were you taching it up to before you dump the clutch?

Need to keep practicing to find the right spot where you can dump the clutch without wheel spin.

do i really have to go through all the trouble of quoting all those posts i put just to show your dumbass how everything i predicted came true? no i dont think i have the time for that.

and no qcr's track prep isnt good but its still a track. i was pulling mostly low 1.6 60's last night but my last pass was a 1.55 60', so dont blame the track because your a total n00b!!! bwahahahaha. as if staging your rear tires after doing a burnout past the tree (something your ONLY allowed to do if you have no front brakes like on a rail car) wasnt bad enough, you left out the part about how you skipped tech and pulled right into the staging lanes then you and andy had to go back. and how you were driving around in circles in the staging lanes looking for the lane you were supposed to be in even though your class hadnt been called yet. i could go on and on....i think ill let brian post about how hilarious it was trying to explain bracket racing to some n00bs, im not sure who that even was though.

btw even if you lost in the first round (which right now sounds like a really safe bet) you still get 5 bucks back at the end of the night, so its only 20 to race.

btw chopping up your timeslips like that to put "the best of the best" together is FUCKING STUPID. just put what you ran. everyone wishes they could couple the best launch with the best mph and blah blah blah. it doesnt work that way.

noah missed 3rd TWICE and still ran way faster than your first pass

honestly though all the bullshit aside, my guess is that you learned alot last night. and if you listen to some advice, you could for sure drive that thing into the 14's (what i was originally trying to tell you before all the shit started flying). general rule of thumb is that every .1 you take off of your 60' is roughly .2 off your ET. You should be able to pull a 2.2 60' even on on those crappy street tires you have. i mean noah pulled a 2.2 and he is wrong wheel drive. that would put you somewhere around a 14.8, and with drag radials you could bring that down even further. when my car trapped at 96 i was running 13.90's so it can be done.

i wish my msd box wouldn't have died... i'd have shown u how to launch a car there on street tires. The track isn't 'great' but theres def no reason u couldn't get a 2.1-2.2 60' with street tires.

and yeah uh, you skipping tech and getting into the lanes.... failing at getting into the right # lanes.... doing a burnout past the line and staging your rear tires....having no idea how dial ins work for bracket racing (wait, u mean i can't go faster than the number i write on my window?!? )... u sure u've been to the track before brett?! U even exceeded my expectations for you're first pass, i didn't think u could manage to run slower than high 15's guess i was wrong!

with all that said, i'm sure u def learned a lot lastnight. don't let you're shitty times last night discourage u from going back... u just need to practice launching. i'm assuming from all the tire spin issues u were having you were just dumping the clutch at the line and keeping the pedal to the floor... def not the way u wana handle it. especially not with street tires

on a side note, it was a sad night for mustangs... my msd box died on me and jim with the 03 cobra snapped his half shaft on the line  guess i got the cheaper of the fixes at least lol

Edit: after checking into it today the pick-up on the distributor died, much cheaper than a new box :D Time to go to dummit!

yes it deffinitly was a humbeling day. lol and i learned ALOT. i'll post my slips i just didnt want to type it it all out. i figured that the worst and best off all would get the job done. but yeah i had no idea what lane to go in because they kept switching them and i couldnt hear what lane to go in over the other cars. and yeah i skipped tech. last time they did it in the lane. we thought that was bracket but not sure. so we asked so we didnt get up to the line and look even dumber. and i though their would be a little leeway on the time like you could run a tenth slower or faster. but i was not dumping the clutch execpt for the first time casue i though i would hook cause i was at a track. and even then i was only at 2k rpm. i did lose first round of bracket. my car is not exactly what you call consistant. i dialed a 15.00 and the other guy came around me like a bat out of hell at the last second. i ran a 15.2. the tires on the back are yokahomas. put my camaro's tires/rims on the front cause my ta's where bald. but i already bought cooper zeons. i'm just waiting on them to come in. here are my slips.

Yeah, you need to be on your game esp if the other guy you are running is faster than you. You went .2 slower than your dail, and the rest you can attribute to your 60' because (I guess fortunately for you so it didn't seem worse) he cut a similarly horrid light.

Pro Tip: Don't go when you see the light turn green. You will have to leave on a yellow. I think human r/t is like .050 so you will need to at least think about that, then how much rollout you have allowed depending on how you've staged to actually break the beam and start the clock, and how your vehicle moves forward as you let the clutch out/come off the brakes. A mediocre light with some practice should see you in the .700 range, and although its not good enough for the big classes, it can get you decently far with the novice street class. Remember that counts against your dail in as it is assumed you will run your 15.0 dailed on a .500 light.

If he wouldve cut a .600 light, it would be like he was running over a full second faster than normal between your dail/reaction time/60'. Then it will seem real crazy getting your doors blown off by a high 13 sec car.

In all, don't go switching your tires; work on your driving skill. 2k launches arent going to do shit but bog and then possibly break them loose when it catches itself and you have it floored. Sometimes you cant just floor it in 1st, and sometimes you have to ride the clutch out a little and practice what RPM you can do so at.

You have a full exhaust and an intake, so if someone knew what they were doing, they could run half decent. Your 60's were atrocious but your MPH (going from my LT1 experience) is still not too bad considering in the last few runs. So it might actually go up a tad if you can learn how to drive your car and bring it out with a 2.1- 2.2 60'. There is NO reason you can't do it. Mine did it BONE STOCK with 154k on it, on some half junk khumos. You can prolly appreciate my 14.4 @96mph a little more with a car so stock as to down to the paper filter ;) But like I said, that wasn't nearly my first pass out, and there was alot of driving involved.

Also, please never ever ever mix-match a time slip again. They don't even make sense to read like that.

Hope you can walk away with something learned from your 1st track experience along with a little humbling and some appreciation of what others are running. I have a feeling there will be a tad less 'calling out' in the future 8-)

I remember when Bill and I used to fucking pw3n then the street and slick classes back in the day for streetwars. Sure wish I can get my car to be that consitant and hook again. I'd have to work on my lights again though. I remember when a .530 for me was like my worst light of the night, my 60' times were never over 1.75 and I could run within a hundredth of my dail or so near every pass. I always ended up redlighting or missing a gear or something retarded in the semis though. Nerves are a bitch. Too bad they never gave out 3rd place trophies  I know Bill at least has a 1st place street slick and a streetwars one though!

ask and you shall receive.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36H5ffR1-Aw - bretts epic fail followed by my friend travis in his stock 07 charger rt

and i found this floating around, somewhat interesting... andy vs that blue mach that claims to run 13s.... as he gets beat by a car that runs 13.80....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9T1Fk7VJ ... annel_page

the tree is pretty simple to figure out. from my personal experiences in my/other ppls cars: anything with an auto without a stall ur gona want to leave around the second light turning off (unless ur in something thats pretty fast) most stick shift cars u wana go right before/as the 3rd light is coming on (again depends how fast the car is) u'll have to tweak it for ur exact car (hp level, final gear ratio, ect ect all play a role) but that should give u a good starting place, after that its all experience. I ran my stang before the conversion enough to pin a sub 5.20 light most of the time

and tom, i can relate haha. several times ive made it to the semi-final or final round in brackets, not one 1st place win :( i always either redlight or fail doing something else... nerves ftl. I always took the cash though... who wants a runner-up trophy anyway... i'll take my 25 bucks back

oh, and heres a vid of cody... who didn't dial 11.20 like cory told him to... and ran a 11.21 on a 11.10 dial and lost

You didnt break anything.

Change your diff fluid, if you have a viscous clutch type diff make sure to add some of the additive. All can be had at autozone. If that doesn't work your LSD is just had it.

LT1s have clutches in the rear unlike the torsen LS1 style. Even though you claim the prep sucks its actually all that VHT thats putting it to the test and, yours is most likely tired. Mine tried the same crap. Try the fluids, but you most likely need to rebuild the clutches. On the street you will not notice and it will burn both sides.

Dude, watching those vids, if you could even remotely drive that car can go low into the 14s. Just practice your launch, it was trying to catch itself the entire way through 1st.

Still impressed how good a next to stock LS car runs.

yeah deffinitly need to work on the launch. and yeah andy was spinning a lil in a heavy convertable with shitty 2.73s in the rear. ran a best of 13.6. and the car has more. that car never ceases to impress me. i would have bought a ls1 f-body but i couldnt afford the insurence.

Just keep practicing man, you'll get it. My first run i fucked up like you too ran a 17.03 or something like that missed second gear lamo. Next time out I ran a low 14 with a 1.59 60'
this was in my old 90 tsi with fuel pump and 16lb.s of boost stock exhaust and all.
