Yes, Quaker's prep sucks since the new owner took over. Stay out of the right lane, it seems worse then the left lane.

no man none of that shit talking was directed at you, that was in response to bretts post. i can tell your just in it for fun and your not talking shit. i raced a 6 speed t-top ls1 car (with slp loudmouth, lid, i think thats about it, and im pretty sure it was a 3.42 car) from a 40ish roll and put a few buslengths on him thats why i was talking shit to brett about how i will destroy your car, which i would from a roll, and even worse from a dig.
honestly if i happen to see someone on the street who wants to race i wouldnt back down, but if i am going to arrange a race i think its retarded to arrange it anywhere but at the track. if you cant make it the day im there thats fine, im not the type to talk shit just because you didnt/couldnt show up when i was there. if youre there on the 24th, id be more than glad to give you a shot at my car.

i tried to get some good races in my car. the only person that would step up on the street was brian.
right lane bad. i'll keep that in mind thanks.

Why the fuck are you guys arguing over 12-15 second cars? That shit is not fast, maybe in mahoning county, but no offence overall its just not. Who cares really?
Bottom Line.
Dig: races are generally a drivers race, unless tires are needed to prevent wheel spin.
Roll: Cars race unless the driver is missing gears, cant shift... ect.
Start trapping over 120 mph and start arguing, this is just silly.

but in all seriousness u will win just trying to stir things up, ill give u congrats when ur v8 runs a faster that my mostly stock 4cyl

Whoa Lol, figured that might get taken pretty seriously, but that’s not what I meant entirely. You guys are arguing over a few 0.10th’s in 12-13 second range this really is only a 10-15 HP difference (granted same launch takes place). You are arguing about winning by a few bumpers in a race.
Noah, I don’t see the hate for my swap, you could have done the same thing with a BPU rb25 for the price you paid for your spec-v. But you bought a car instead of built one. I saved up for over a year and a half when I was 16 to be able to build that car. Your life choices are your life choices, you want to get married, get married, you want to buy a house, buy a house it is your choice, dont talk down on someone who doesnt make those same choices.
What I was trying to get at there is a lot faster cars out there than stockish, bolt on T/A’s, Mustangs, SRT-4’s, Subies ect… So why get all bent out of shape about beating someone by 1mph and a tenth of a second? I could see if its just fun between two buddies, you like to give some shit to, but this is like a little battle on here. Buschurs events a prime example of a bunch of different cars brought in from all over that run pretty damn good times.
I know I went to Norwalk for a test n tune with my 240 when it was stock turbo, man my shit wasnt even quick compared to other street cars there in my class. I'm talking about turbo cars, and n/a new model GM's, stangs. Most cars were in the 11's the night I was up there, it was a big eye opener. Here I was running high 12's lol, when the car next to me is trapping 10-15mph higher almost every run I had. That kind of event inspired me not discouraged.
Sorry to offend some of you, but It just gets annoying reading another pissing match about who’s faster than whom on this forum, grow up.
Maybe I do hang out on Supraforums to much. Who knows.

Well, to play the devils advocate, most of us spend $ to be faster than the next guy. Sometimes the next guy has us way outgunned, sometimes he doesnt. I know eactly how much fun I had when a 14 sec car flew to me. I had a fuckton. Some of my most enjoyable years of driving were the high 13 - low 14 sec range.
Ok, so there ARE a handful of mid 120ish-130 around, but it's pretty few and far between and how many times do you see them on the street? A 12 sec car ususally cleans house pretty well 6 days out of the week.
Want to go to the track? Prepare to feel dumb by the people that build cars for ONE purpose. Yeah theres tons of older guys going 7-10s as the 'norm'. Should that make you want to do the same? I could give a shit about going that fast. I do not want a car I have to trailer everywhere and that can go for SERIOUS roadracing shit too. When it all comes down to it, autox is fucking weak in itself. I mean it's fun, its fun to do, but it ain't open track.
And what's the fucking deal with this 'real men turn' bullshit. You aren't on fucking Road Atlanta. You are in A PARKING LOT. You don't have all kinds of crazy elevations, you don't have 100mph sweepers. You navigate cones in a semi techincal course at 40mph. Go get out on a real fucking track and see how bad your shit sucks ass. I know mine sure fucking did.
Cost of a track day? Not including the prep of the car/cost of the car/mods/saftey equipment? Around $150-300 for an event. NOT including the tires that you WILL be going through if you are remotely competitive, the brakes you will CASH by the time you are done, the fluids that will all need swapped out and flushed because you've cooked the fuck out of it. It's like a $500-1000 trip for a real event easy. Yeah its seattime but at what cost.
Compare that to the 'blue collar' sport of drag racing. Guess why its more popular?
I for one dont have a zo6 or a porsche etc. that has a cooler for every fluid, that is well dialed from the factory etc. and if I did, I would be second guessing having it wadded up into the tires by myself or another. I like my paint un-peppered. Maybe I'm a wuss but I'd rather have a car that I just enjoy and not tear the fuck out of. If I did, I would just keep the DSM as a half ratty mess and track whore the shit out of it, like so many others.
Does tracking your shit to the point of looking abused make you cooler? Hell if I know. It makes your car look like ass. But you've enjoyed it and that's what counts. I love seeing stuff get used, but I hate seeing cool shit beat to death. If I see a vette with paint rubbed down the door, I don't assume it got it on the track unless the car is filthy dirty and wearing a set of Avons.
Idk...just do your thing. None of us can even keep a car fucking running around here so idk wtf the issue is. Bill's mustang WILL go 120s EASY on the bottle as it's not terribly far off anyhow from his best MPH. He's enjoying it how he sees fit. Drives it on the steet and has fun. If you're doing the best you can in a 15sec car then that's all the better. I get the most use out of my daily driven DSM that hauls ass anywhere be it snow and rain etc and it does it day in and day out.
To me thats what most of these kids are doing as not everyone has the luxury of having a few cars. That's cooler to me then my worthless red POS in my sig that comes out when I feel like it and it's nice out.....what fun is that.
You should be happy that whatever you put together yourself does what it does because YOU did it. That and drive what you really want and enjoy. If that starting point costs $500 or $20,000. As long as you're cool with investing 10-20k into a fucking POS car that's worth 1/4 of it and you're cool with it, don't knock others that put the $ into things that actually count in life. Fuck cars anymore. Wish I wouldve never touched em and invested the $...least its a hobby

Good read Tom, cars are an enormous waste of money, but yet people still spend money on them. I am very much included in that statistic; it is really a “sickness†as Mr Vaccar stated to me once lol. I don’t even want to count the amount of dollars I have spent building and rebuilding my 240 over the past 2-3 years… of just wasted new parts destroyed and finally I found the issue with it after all this time… Still I am not sure if I want to quit just yet. I should have left the fucking thing how it was, at least I’d be able to drive it everyday, instead it sits 11 months out of the year while I save money, and build just to destroy it…
My 240 was a blast as a high 12 second car at Nelsons track, honestly anymore and I would have been way scared. I already was very hesitant on pushing the car through corners at less than 300hp. It gave me butterflies for days thinking about it, and my session only lasted 30 minutes due to a coolant line bursting. I’d love to take my car to a track every weekend or even ever other but it costs a lot of money to do that, as you see Tom broke down some expenses.. Maybe one day when its more affordable, but as of now, not quite.
I like fast clean street cars that don’t collect dust that are driven hard, and flogged. That is what gives me a hard on. Maybe that’s why I haven’t given up yet… hmm.

Bigger carb on my car now anyway, i'd love a rematch
point being,we could race at the track all day under whatever conditions u want (tire choice etc) and u don't have a chance...

The display board at Quaker need not display the 1/4 mile et's, but should only display trap speed becuse that is the only important piece of informformtion one can get from drag racing, besides how strong their drivetrain compontets are. A "mans" car can pull at least 1g of lateral acceleration for extended periods of time without oil starvation, has 50/50 weight distribution about the front and back wheels, and come to a stop from a 100mph roll in under 290ft. A sports car.
Pass it on.

I'll be happy to just run 13s, its my first time to the track but like I said I've taken mid/high 12 second cars on the street with ease. If Jasons car isn't done this week I'll try extra hard to make it up there the 24th.
Rb25Cory wrote:Why the fuck are you guys arguing over 12-15 second cars? That shit is not fast, maybe in mahoning county, but no offence overall its just not. Who cares really?
Bottom Line.
Dig: races are generally a drivers race, unless tires are needed to prevent wheel spin.
Roll: Cars race unless the driver is missing gears, cant shift... ect.
Start trapping over 120 mph and start arguing, this is just silly.
Are you saying that only people with 10 second cars can be competitive? I've had more fun racing kids at school with my moms 19.2 @ 65 mph Kia Sorento than I have had racing my Camaro, and we'd always get into arguements over who's 19 second machine was the fastest. Maybe it is silly, but who cares? It's fun.

Fact is that you don't know who will win. Who should could and would win is irrelevant. Lets leave the bench racing for Viper Alley and lets find out who does win.
I'm not sure who your "well if i had a bunch more horsepower my car would run 9's so fucking what?", but if its directed at me I want to make it clear: I'm not making excuses, I'm not saying if I had slicks and a gear and a cam and all sorts of other stuff I would beat you, I'm not talking shit. I'm saying that if we are on equal tire I think I can win. If we race and you win, I'm not the kind of person to make excuses. My offer is this: Street tires from a dig, or a 35/65 mph roll. No shit talking, no excuses, just a straight up race for fun.
i guess you're looking at this a different way.... its not that your car was faster, its that a certain speed (in my case 110+mph) your car was faster
Bigger carb on my car now anyway, i'd love a rematch
point being,we could race at the track all day under whatever conditions u want (tire choice etc) and u don't have a chance...
either way, just figured id save u the trouble...his car is about two seconds out of ur league
About 2 seconds out of my league? LOL if you say so. Once again, I do not race at the track. I'm going there once to race a friend because he insists his third gen would beat me there. I diagree, but instead of argueing with him im going to go prove it. You seemed like a pretty cool guy when we raced so I have no problem rematching you. Same race as last time? Not that its going to help me since I know absolutely nothing about carbs, but how much bigger of a carb are you running now?

A "mans" car can pull at least 1g of lateral acceleration for extended periods of time without oil starvation, has 50/50 weight distribution about the front and back wheels, and come to a stop from a 100mph roll in under 290ft. A sports car.
Pass it on.
I agree with most of that, however there are a few sports cars (porsches) that dont have 50/50 that are still tits.

Its all good Noah. I did the same thing with my Rex, I was sick of driving a shitty daily, got a decent job that I could afford a payment on a decent car and insurance as well so I took out a small loan on it.
With that same notion, since the rex isn't payed for like my 240 I am a lot more hesitant on beating on it. I need it to get me to my job to pay bills, and to school to get an education. So you wont see me at Quaker with it 5k launching it lol. However that doesn't stop me from accelerating and taking a few corners on the streets. I don't know how much life my clutch has left on it, just rolled over 116k on it... I put 26k miles on that shit in 13 months... heh.
