yup. i mean to me it wouldnt be a waste of money if i like doing that sort of stuff but it would take alot more money than it should. its getting bagged, a custom paint job, rims, and tint. all new audio on the inside, new carpet, and its getting sold haha.

newer year, good mileage, and the value of everything ill put into it. ill get a decent profit, but the main thing is ill get my money back, ill be 18, and i wont have limitations to buying a car. it'll work out for me.

If you do all that crap to your grand am the value will plummet. No one's gonna want to buy a grand am with a ton of bling bling all over it. They buy grand am's because they are fairly inexpensive, reliable, and get decent gas mileage.

Stock usually will get you more money than modded.

Werd. I have never ever ever made money on a car that I dumped a ton of $ into. And they were NOT grand ams. Hell I'm 15k in on my mustang; I'd be retarded lucky to see 10.

Sell it now, as clean and close to stock as possible. I absolutely refuse to have more than the market value tied up in any car I own anymore. If it reaches that point, and it's not how I like it; the car goes away. Losing $ is gay and modding shitty cars is a great way to lose it.

uhhh... so what would you guys say about modding a z24? i have everything figured out.. but after seeing what your saying about this kids car you guys got me scared.. i dont plan on selling it for a while

Ok what I'm about to type might come off as extremely mean, but I really don't care and its for the better.

Grand Am, cheap, econo car from GM. Bottom line its nothing more. Personally its a POS, my beater ass subie wagon with 230k miles is more fun to drive. Its meant for driving to and from places thats it. Theres no market for the car other than Pep-Girls rice that retards buy, from neon's to altezza's and so on. You would be a total tool if you dumped money into it thinking your going to "turn a profit, or even break even".

Same can basically be said about the z24, its a little bit of a performance econo car, but thats about it. "at least it comes in a 5 speed" There was a guy on supra forums that built an n/a one after spending about $6000 in motor work the thing still only managed a 14.05@ like 93mph..... Yeah he was laughed out of there... I would never even waste my time. Any of you ever look at the suspension setup on a Cavi? its fuck shit cheap... Cars fine for a daily left stock, good mileage a little sporty but besides that not really any potential without boost/nitrous.. even thats stretch. IMO.

Bottom line is its your money, spend it as you see fit. But do consider if you actually SAVED all the money for something big ex. better car, turbo kit, supercharger, good suspension components... so and so forth you might be able to afford them? Instead of wasting money buying pittal shit like intakes, exhaust, plug wires, a "chip", a fucking wing "don't even get me started there...." speakers yadi yadi, shit that will make little to ZERO difference on a small displacement n/a four cylinder. "I'm not talking turbo/supercharger cars here which these parts actually make a difference"...

Since this is a rant thread I guess this fits, because this is one of the things that bothers me SO bad with this hobby.

I hate GM economy vehicles!!!!! as does the rest of the world. build it, bag it, boost it, or just burn it.. ill give you 5 bucks and haul it to the scrap yard for you

Yea. I can't really design amazing stuff unless i'm in the mood though. Idk why. But i design for www.properbikeco.com, www.bmxohio.org, www.albes.com, www.beeteemsports.com. i don't do much work for albes bmx, bmxohio, and beeteem anymore, but i do work for proper here and there. ive made a flyer for suicide silence a year ago which was pretty cool. ill be going to the art institute of pittsburgh next year or the year after and im going to work up for a doctorates degree in graphic design to make 94k+ a year and im hoping to get a major in photography (prob wont happen being i cant afford the equipment), and motion graphics.

to sum up what cory said, u'll never get your money out of any "project car". And if u even hope to get 3/4 of what u put into it, it needs to be something people desire (certain types of cars) and done tastefully. So a grand am kinda misses a few of those catagories

i actually was going to get an s-10 but i couldnt find one in my price range

but i had the choice between a red monte carlo and a black grand am in the end. =/
