True Customs S10

Postby drewboi » Mon Mar 08, 2010 5:02 am

Well, i have been up at true customs tearing this truck apart and helping rob and cowboy get shit done on this truck. he has had it for a little while now and it has pretty much just sat.

engines a 305 bored .20 over apparently.. we gotta go by the word of the previous owner.. so ill get full engine specs once we tear it apart and figure out what it really has in it.

rob had it sitting outside his old shop and a bunch of water got in the carb and is all in the engine and whatnot... when i turned the crank when we were taking the torque converter off i got a nice little crunch with the twist.. it diddent seem too bud but it will definatly need honed or more.. the rockers were hitting the valve covers the slightest bit but not enought to do damage thank god. the oil was pretty thick.. almost a grease consistancy

the body is a little rough but luckily thats what robs good at so once he gets done with the body it should be looking good again..

ill post the plans for it a little bit later once i got the list of absolute things happening...

Pictures aren't working. Do yourselves a favor and toss the boat anchor 305 in a pond where it belongs. I wouldn't trust a .020 over engine that already has issues with the water jackets being too close and paper thin bore spacing.

Go get a used running 350 for a few hundred and save the headache ;)

Pics are good...my internet was fuxxored.

Truck should come together fairly fast really. It'd look normal with new cab corners and the latter. Seems like it'd be less work to find a cleaner truck though...looks extra rough.

yea... the more and more i read about 305's and relize how much its not worth doing much to im thinking about trying to talk rob into a 350 because by the time we are done cleaning this up we could probably buy one... i tore the engine down , left the crank , piston, rods , and cam in for now..the cylinder walls are rusted a little.. soo.. yea..... oh.. and the pistons are .40 over.. lol

i should be pulling the cab off today so we can start cleaning it up.. the idea ofa body drop is beeing tossed around... if you guys goat any input or ideas let us know!! were up for ideas
