Would you?

Sell a car you have like 16k+ tied up in that would require 2k plus soon, for 9k?

..to buy another car that costs like 13-14k and is stock?

Trying to justify a cheap sale to get a vette with alot less miles than my stang. I fucking hate myself for spending what I did on that thing :x

if you think you can get more then i would say no. but if you cant get much more then go for it. if someone offered you that than they will be willing to pay that for a little while. might even come back with a higher offer. someone else might know what its worth with the mods and offer more. to sum it up. just sit on it for a little bit. wait to see if you can get better. but it really depends on if your driving the car or not if you think the bottem end is going to give. take it. if its just sitting. dont.

and mark yes he's talking about a c5.

Yea c5.

Between that and the sale of the laser though I'd have like 14k to play with... I'd still need a winter whip but whatever. I should get a $500 car and bank that shit

Yes I would. You never get back what you put in and with the economy how it is right now I think i would settle. And plus if you think your about to run into some bottom end problems, do you really want to deal with all that? And have your car down that much longer? Or would you rather get something more reliable and what not. Its a big decision but if it was me Id bite the bullet and take the offer..

Unfortunately Nick, I couldnt agree more. Idk why though...price maybe?

I mean you get the same LS base, but in a 3100-3200lb car , with a sick suspension a full targa and all. Parts cost is $$ though, that kinda sucks.

But like a full exhaust C5 targa, lowered on even stock z06 wheels would be soooooooooo much fun to roll in

bet the stang would be faster if it was running right....

It's a tuff decision.. I've also pondered such things in my head. Hell i've concidered selling off my car & all my extra crap & just buying a wrangler to play with. I know where your sitting, i've been in the same chair. I chose to put mine away and sit on it till i could fix it properly. I'm happy i still have my car but still want other things too.. but i think i'd miss the thing if i actually got rid of it.

Stang would spank one as it sat. I'd mangle one fixed HARD.

Difference is that my vette would have 100k less miles, zero rust chances, and the roof would come off. That and not drive like a mustang but an actual sports car.

I'd put the mustang on Craigslist and just leave it there for a while until somebody offers you large sum of money or a fair trade for a C5 vette.

And/OR Mustang/LS/Corvette forums.

Buy an ls1 camaro, same power, smaller car, and t-tops!

fbodies are like 4-500lbs heavier, the engine is buried under the dash and they just arent going to handle proper ;)

I'd love a black WS6, but a vette is a better car and getting close to being the same price for as overpriced the t/a's are.

Wow, never knew that. I look at a corvette and it seems like a boat next to a camaro or t/a. Nice.

yeah but you do compromise the fact that. 1. your not the amazing sexy performance machine that is the corvette.(corvette ownes all. i'm sorry it just does) 2. your heavier 3. cant handle as well. and last but not least; 4.you have to worry about rust on the rear qp's

like he said above: if all he was interested in was pure straight line/ 1/4mi. car he would go with a diffrent car. but he has alot more in mind. :ugeek:

Get the vette fo sho! i mean its a fucking corvette. fuck that old guys comment. thats such bullshit. Corvettes are for people who can afford corvettes, period. everyone else is just jealous. Slam that bitch on some z06 wheels, exhaust, 100 shot with really nice drag radials out back, im sure you already know which ones id recommend (like some 335's or whatever huge fucking tire you know fits there) and have yourself a 30 mpg (or whatever ridiculous mileage they get) 6 speed, low 12 or 11 sec, targa top having, FUCKING COR-FUCKING-VETTE MAN!!!

Plus you could probably take the blower off your car and the fact that the bottom end was a little less than fresh would become alot less apparent, and alot less of a big deal literally. Sell the blower to someone and probably still get 8 or 9 grand for that car. It would be more work but you might come out with more money.

Either way I would get the fucking corvette.

I know how you feel Tom, I've buried more than that into my stupid broke RB. I've honestly come to the consensus that I will take that car to the grave or swap its components into another chassis before I sold it. Too much to loose since its ALL paid for. However we might be in different financial situations when this thought has crossed my mind. If having a house, food, a car to get to work was in need over the 240 then I'd have different thoughts. I'm not sure how your sitting but from what you have briefly said on here it sounds like it might be in a little shitty position.

Personally too many c5 vettes they are EVERYWHERE. A built z06 is a differently story. To hard of a choice for me to choose, I'd most likely pick another platform before the vette.

IDK..... my post prolly didn't help for shit. haha.

Boom just like I said.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KzB4l0LpbY

Notice the 115+ trap speed? Not that 12.5 is too shabby itself, but 115 its plenty of trap to do some damage. Not to mention a 100 shot isnt exactly "pushing it" on an LS1.

Seems like the main reason a corvette is on his radar is because he can get one for so cheap. I don't think Tom is interested in the 'status' that comes along with one haha

Tom wants one because they are a straight BAD ASS car. Plus Tom has wanted one since we played with hotwheel corvettes in like 1st grade when he broke his collar-bone running in from recess. Maybe even before that haha.

i'd love a vette personally, i just dont think for the price its a viable option if you're tight on $$

i've also considered selling or doing other things with my car. but like cory said, all my shits paid for... theres no sense taking a big loss for nothing. If ur really pressed to move on to something else, best idea is to take the expensive shit outta it and transplant it.

Honestly though tom, why don't u just get a real clean fox? its lighter than our body styles... granted u dont get much more handling

make the red stang driveable and sell it for a good chunk of change. Your car is clean as fuck, i couldn't see u having much trouble getting rid of it for 7k~ minus the blower...

just build a nice little mild motor for the fox with a stronger bottom end and slap the blower back on it. u'd probably come out with extra money and a faster car

as for the daily, i think my dads gonna sell his 92 cavi. its only got like mid 60k miles on it and i think he only wants to get like 2500 outta it? i'll hook u up if he decides to sell it

No, I definately dont want a fox. I like foxes ALOT, but I'm not interested in the tinny-hotrod 79-85 era of refinement. They are fun, esp if you want to build a drag car, but that's not totally what I'm after.

FWIW, the $ end for the cars is 95% liquid through the DSM sale and the mustang sale. I wouldn't really have to touch my checking account at all, and I have a savings account for the 'blow it on a home' wad. I could go buy a c5 z06 cash tommorow and still have the mustang; but that's not a very smart move if you want to not live in a car.

I've been blessed with having a 'decent' paying job for a few years while not having to pay living expenses and, albiet my school debt payments and my copious car spending; I have managed to put away a few bills for when the time comes. IMO, the job is my limiting factor right now as I feel like I am setup to be fuxxored if I lose it anytime soon.

Basically I have like 1 rule I try to follow after having to recoup the funds once: NEVER TOUCH YOUR SAVINGS FOR A CAR. PERIOD.

If I cant swing it easy out of pocket and still have a buffer, I wont buy it. I would buy this next car cash money. Would only be tight on getting a beater/winter daily. I'm only reserved about not being able to spread the $ around for an actual decent normal car and not some POS im just going to want to replace.

As for the vette; Bill couldn't have hit it more on the head. I am like a vette-guru when it comes to stupid BS trivia about them and their history. I think I own like 4-5 books on them. To say I was hell bent at a young age was an understatement; but they never were percieved as achievable I guess. I would have already bought a z06 if they were targa. If there is one thing I am against is hardtops. The 'off the blower' idea hadnt crossed my mind too much as it seems like its a great selling point, that and I sold off/half gave away my 24# fuel setup. I guess I have enough to put it back if I wanted to.

I just see this as an oppurtunity in my life that I might not have again once I get the responsibilty of a home etc. and the vette turns into my midlife crisis car. It'd just be the shit for me to have one. Fastest guy out there or not, I'm rocking it with my ass 6" of the pavement with the sun in my face sounding all pissed off exotic like. With all my creature comforts to boot!
