HELP! My 14b commited suicide!!!

Cranked the boost up last night, and the freakin nut backed off the compressor wheel, and....well, you can guess the rest.

This thing is shrapnel.

Does ANYONE have a 14b (90-94 DSM 5spd turbo) with good guts?!! I need one like yesterday.

Sucks cause I gave away my good spare. :roll:

Fuck, If I had the cash for a 16g right now, i'd sell you my good 14b. The cars in the garage for the winter, and I PLAN on getting rid of it, but I don't wanna leave the car turboless unless I have a new one on its way.

Well I'm broke, haha, so I didn't plan on the purchase till after xmas...

But how much are good 14b's going for these days? I guess I don't care about selling it right now. Whats your offer?

$125 and its yours, we can pull it off this weekend. I think I have the funds to get my 16g pretty quick. I see em on tooners with 10,000 miles for under $300. Here she is a year ago... I think I put on less than 5000 miles since then.

Car was back on the road by 8pm Saturday night. I tossed on my ported hotside and was good to go! No more bling bling polished compressor housing :cry:

Awesome! What are you gonna do with the junk compressor side? I would love to turn it into a nice mantle piece above my fireplace if you're just gonna throw it out.

Define 'clock'


Loosen bolts on the compressor or exhaust housing side, and either twist the housing to a new location, or remove completely and bolt to a new location.

No, you can't clock them...but that would'nt have helped my cause any; not sure what that has to do with much. My concern was a blemish in the aluminum where a bent fin made a few rounds as the inlet curves around the blades. A quick refinishing with some 400grit would make it fine, but I was unsure of tolerence issues and would rather a tigher tolerence, so I just used the cold side of this 'new' 14b.

I was gonna hang onto the housing and use it as desk onrnament at work I think :P

FWIW, I've never seen a stock 14b hotside look so good. No cracks or anything. :D

only reason I asked if you could clock it was, if you can clock it.. you can remove the housings.

Oh, theres a high tension clamp. You can separate it, even on the car, but its mor of a PITA. :D

FYI, theres a guide pin that 'lines the housings up' but it is removable.

So, Yea, I guess they 'can' be clocked, but you'd have to run an extenal gate. Otherwise the stock mount wouldnt work with the arm. 8)
