Thats what rb26 swaps are for. If I ever owned a 300zx TT it would either be kept BPU, or motor swapped to an RB. But I most likely wont own one, unless I'm collecting a line of awesome JDM turbo cars later in life.
I do agree with Tom in some instances, platform is crucial. To be a solid platform for a great car to be built off of is one that isn't rotted. Paint can be fixed, and so can minor body work. Rust is a whole other story...
