everyone has their own tecnique (sp?) but thats what works for me. It definatly isn't the easiest thing to learn but once i got it down i've nailed some pretty hard launches out of that car.

I used to just dump the clutch & go but with the amount of power that the car has these days.. i'd break something every time i left the line.

You rwd guys can just use line locks on your front wheels, makes things a little more simple. I'm sure i could rig something up for that on mine but i like being able to control the ratio of gas/slip/brake with my feet. Especially if i change which tires i'm running.

I dont know anyone RWD who does it that way.

It's become common knowledge to pre-load the car on the launch.

I've been using the ebrake for years because it's convenient.

Alot of guys run staging brakes, but it's a fairly complicated installation on a street car.

Both serve the same purpose, take the slack of the drivetrain to prevent breakage and make launches more consistent.

E-brake sounds easier than Tonys lol. That would allow both your feet free on each pedal inside of side stepping. I feel like you could have better clutch control that way.

i use the e-brake too but it usually won't hold the car still and will result in draging my car off the line and red light it, so i use additional braking force from the pedal. Some of it just depends on how wet the track is from the waterbox tards!

tonight's progress.

downpipe assembly:

Installed:

I just need to put the flexpipe in and get ahold of a good set of exhaust flanges to tie it into the existing exhaust. I'll give it a test run and make sure everything is in working order, then probably pull it all apart for some coatings.

Any suggestions on colors for the compressor housing?

is candy red the color that your engine bay is? if so, id either paint the turbo black, paint the valve cover candy red, and repaint the sparkplug cover black to match the turbo better or vice versa.

edit: i remembered what a comma is.

yea, the whole car is currenly candy red

i probably will end up powder coating my valve cover candy red and doing the spark plug cover black coz the red wrinkle is to hard for me to keep clean.

i'd just clear it but thats me lol.
If ur gonna paint match it, id say red/gold

I've always just dumped it (my drivetrain and other things i've raced have always been built though), i'll play around with this whole preloading idea this spring... see if it helps my 60s at all.

i can mount and dismount both car & motorcycle tires

as far as balancing goes, i can only do motorcycle wheels until i order the adapters for the car wheels.

i plumbed the wastegate into the manifold tonight and hooked everything up. It's currently sitting there with an open downpipe and minimal fluids but i was able to start it up and check for leaks. Everything seems to be alright other than my idle isn't setup for cold weather!

i made a quick video for you guys coz i wasn't all messy and the camera was in the garage already.

keep in mind, when you hear abnormaly loud engine noise that this is a forged motor and it's still cold out.. piston to wall clearance's are pretty big until it's actually warmed up.
