Figured i'd start my thread today and be the first post on these fourms too :P

Anyway, just tore apart the whole interior today... ready for the cage! :O Won't be touching the motor till i try to sell it on ebay a few times so i can let the buyer hear it run and such.

No one wants to see pics of a stripped interior but i'll post em anyway so the thread has content! lol.

ok... i decided to get un-lazy today and rip the rest of the car apart.
Motor, tranny, everything, its all stripped down and good to go!
Thank God my dad is into this stuff... doing this shit solo would have taken forever.

Enjoy.

step 1: Stripped interior - fuck push pins

Step 2: Pulling the motor

Step 3: Pulling the transmission - i got way too frustrated doing this on the floor on my back to take many pics. so yea...

Now that the hard stuff is done its time to start cleaning/prepping everything... :?

Block is going to the shop next week to get machined and i've already found a buyer for the motor/trans so i'm pretty much golden at this point.

Block should be done in 2-3 weeks then its $$ spending time:
Eagle forged crank/rods, wiseco 8.5:1 pistons, .620 lift cam, afr 225cc heads, t-56 transmission, garrett gt42r turbo, intercooler, standalone, laptop to run it, injectors/fuelpump, ect ect... cage and manifolds from domination chassis... the list goes on...

Anyway... 3 more months till the weather is nice enough to drive the car, everything "seems" to be on schedule

Looking nice man!! So you called Jay then? They will do you good!

Question motor and trans cant come out together?.... If I can manage to pull mine together with only about 3-4 inches from the cam covers to my rad support you should be able to lol.. its wayyy easier.

BTW I hate those plastic push pins too... I have issues with breaking them.

yeah i can pull the motor and trans at the same time but my dad has a bunch of shit piled behind my car so we couldn't move the car back enough to fit the cherrypicker in front of the car. Can't really take motor/trans together with the picker on the side so i had to do it the pain in the ass way :\

And yeah... i prolly broke like half a dozen pins from getting frustrated and just yanking too hard.

I can really appreciate working on a clean car for a change though... hands aren't gonna be stained for weeks this time around! haha.

empty block sitting in the garage... but i got all my new seats, new brakes/rotors, and the transmission should be here in a few days :)

Ended up getting a sweet deal on a 95cobra trans so i'll just be getting that one rebuilt... no more 6spd but hey it saved me alot of $$ so i'm not complaining

power steering

Postby stang5.0 » Thu Jan 31, 2008 1:35 pm

Brian the car looks like it is coming along well. I was just woundering how your power steering was functional with yor 302 if it ran off the serpentine belt ofr not and if you have any parts you are or want to sell that could do me any good thanks.

i dont have power steering, wouldnt fit with the headers so i just bought a flaming river manual rack for it... the guy who bought the motor is trying to sell the gt-40 heads i had on it though. I think hes trying to get like $900-$1,000 for em which is a pretty good price, they're 1400+ brand new.

Other than that there isn't much i took off the car u would really be able to use... just swapping out the motor and trans.

Did you repaint the engine bay at all the first time you swapped it?

I wish mine was that clean (rust free)
It whistles while it WORKS.

actually i've been kinda lazy :\ not much has changed over the last two-three weeks, shit sitting in my garage... ect

i didnt run out of money... i still have alot of shit to order :?
but damn, working Weds. through Sunday is really a motivation killer... i do want the car done by May though... i suppose i need to get back to work.

as for the machining, i'm not quite sure of the business name... its a close friend of my dad so he took care of it for me. I can find out if u'd like...

and yes, i cleaned and painted the engine compartment when i had the car apart the first time... also cleaned and painted the underbody  that was a pain in the ass
